you could get the vitamin C better from an actual orange than drinking the juice (way more calories in the juice) or you could get Vit C drops instead. You should add the juice to your diary to get an accurate calorie count for your days.

Honestly, keeping a log when you're sick is not good for your health.... I haven't been sick in a very long time but I wouldn't bother.

Add the calories. When I am sick, I don't restrict, I try to make good choices, but I am not going to keep going at a deficit when sick. I don't think it gives the body what it needs to heal.

If you're genuinely sick I'd not worry about cals (but be honest with yourself, don't use it as an excuse to chow down on 20 doughnuts), because your body needs energy to heal itself.

If you do want to log your diary, then yes, log the juice too - if it has cals, log it.
  • i did take some vitamins( i usually don't) , but i dranks like 4 glasses , may be ever 5 of orange juiice....i am already over my calorie intake for the day with the added orange juice. i have full time job and i am full time student , so i can't afford to be sick :(

i can sympathise with you, I have a rotten cold too. Currently sat with another hot honey and lemon, full of vit C . Its an alternative to OJ as the honey can be minimul to reduce cals.

i am REALLY sick , i felt sick yesturday and i still went to the gym this morning and i've been in school the whole day.... i am not eating any junk except for the orange juice and some chocolate protein bars that i had ... nothing too bad
  • Supplements are exactly what you need. They have the desired immune-boosting effect without the calories. I agree with jjdevore; count the calories, but make good choices and don't try to short yourself. If you just stop counting it altogether, you may never get back down to business when you're better. Then you'll be back to square one.

add them -- and put a note on your daily diary that you were sick, that way you have something to go back and look at, and to keep your calorie count honest. We all have these days, and with the colder weather coming, once you are feeling better, think about taking a daily vitamin of straight vitamin C at least 500 mg, it has helped me stay healthy in my busy schedule !! Hope you feel better. :flowerforyou:

That's how I approach things when I'm sick. I feel bad enough without worrying if I'm going over or too far under.

Zicam. Start taking it as soon as you think you're coming down with a cold. Keeps your cold mild and short in most cases.
