Calories Burnt on my HRM

Hi all,
My hubby surprised me with new Timex Ironman Triathlon HRM last week and I had a chance to try it out today. I did one of my regular routines at the gym which usually burns about 750 calories and on the HRM it told me I burnt 1327. I know it's calculating the whole time my heart rate is elevated but should I should I be trusting this? Has anyone else out there tried this product and what have you entered into MFP for calories burnt?

My first HRM was a Timex. I have since learned that those usually overestimate the calories burned, mostly because they don't allow you to enter gender, age, or height. Unless yours is fancier and allows you to do this. Then, I have no idea! :flowerforyou:0

Wow... if the calorie burn is true... nice!!!!
I have a Polar FT4 with a chest strap. I am able to input my age, gender, height and weight. For me... I've found that my calorie burn is a lot less than my treadmill -- I'm only getting about 58% of what my treadmill says. But again... it's all dependent on those factors listed earlier, as well as your actual heart rate. I don't know much about the Timex... sorry.0 -
Uh no.. Timex is absolute crap at estimating calories burned.
Tell hubby thanks but no thanks and get yourself a Polar!0 -
Are you stopping the stopwatch once your workout is over? You have to continuously check her heart rate if no strap. I just swapped my strapless hrm in for one with a strap so we will see.0
