I'm a cashier and I'm on my feet for my shift, but only in the sense that I have to stand at my register. When we have extra coverage I go walk the floor or help out in other departments. On the days that I'm NOT at the register I do a LOT of extra walking around and lifting and bending, etc. I've been logging that as exercise time since it wasn't the planned daily activity. Should I have my information as lightly active (since I stand up all day) and log the times when I'm not at the register OR should I have my information as sedentary and then count everything as exercise?

I would choose sedentary and log the times not at your register. Standing in and of itself is not that much more active than sitting.0

I should set mine at light activity or moderate, but I keep it a sedentary. However, I only log in exercise that is actually cardio exercise. Walking or normal daily activity does not get added.
I know this gives me less calories per day, but it motivates me to really exercise in order to get more calories for my daily alotment.0 -
Personally I only log when I am performing purposeful exercise (ie working out) anything else is just bonus. I would also set as sedentary. I guess it depends on whether you eat back your exercise calories or not. If you don't it doesn't really matter, but if you do logging to much exercise with out an accurate way to track it you might end up eating to many calories for the day.0

Put it as sedentary, and I wouldn't log the time you walk around either. In order to really burn calories and lose weight you need to get your heartrate above a certain amount of bpm (what it shoudl be depends on the individual, weight, age etc.) so you may walk around a bit, which is good, but it isn't the same as jumping on the treadmill for 20 min and burning a couple hundred calories. I try and walk around as much as possible, I walked 3 miles home today and I never count and of that-daily activity is not equal to a workout, although I wish it were.0

do this! we all tend to over estimate how active we are, and under estimate how much food we eat.0
