Going to NYC in a few weeks, done most of the touristy things in the city over the years but never run there, this year I want to take at least one run in central park just for the fun of it. Anyone from the big apple got any tips, favourite routes or curcuits etc...?

  • I have never been there, but that is one of my dreams! I want to one day be so fit that I will enjoy a run a through Central Park, like you see in the movies.

I used to live in NYC. There is a running track around the reservoir which is quite popular. On Sundays the roads in the park close and they can be used by runners and bikers. You can run all over the park then. Bikes can be rented too. On of my favorite spots was the Conservatory Garden, up on 110 St on the East side in Spanish Harlem.

Avoid the Ramble, unless it is the weekend. Lots of strange men looking for encounters there during the week.

I ran there as the last 3+ miles of the NYC marathon a few years back. Nice place to run for sure.

Thanks for the info grassette! Think Sunday sounds like the day for it.

Looking forward to this a lot and the huge breakfast/brunch I'm going to have afterwards, all in the name of recovery of course!
