New to dieting -- please help!

I gained a whopping 55lbs while pregnant, my pre-preg weight was 115. I never HAD to exercise or count calories before getting pregnant. Well, after having my daughter I realized that I really need to get this extra weight off. I weigh 150 now, and I would like to get down to 130. So far I have cut processed foods and soda out -- I'm eating lots of baked/grilled chicken, veggies, fruits, and eggs. I would like to start walking/jogging about 5 times a week. Will the whey protein shakes help me? I have the stuff, but I have heard that those are only beneficial to more intense workouts?

Can you give me any advice on losing weight? Any other moms out there who can offer any advice?

Thanks!

It sounds like you are doing the right things with your diet and exercise already, and this site will give you the tools to help make sure you stay on track with your calories and workouts.

Whey protein is fine... but you dont really need it if you are getting the necessary protein from the rest of your diet.
  • well first off .. im not dieting..im counting my calories.... seems to work better for me to say that... after quitting smoking just 6 weeks ago i was dreading the weight gain so my daughter turned me on to this site.. i say you are doing a great job already....
