Changing calorie goals

I started last Monday night. I just weighed myself tonight. (And will again in the morning because there was a 4 lb difference last week from Monday night to Tuesday morning.) Anyway from Monday night's weigh-in and this week's weigh-in I have lost 10 lbs. Is it that my calories are too low? I have it set at a 2 lb a week weight loss and THINK I have been within 200-300 calories of it every night. Just wondering if something should be readjusted???

It's not unusual to lose more weight when you first get started so I wouldn't be too concerned. Especially if you have a fair bit of weight to lose. If you are closer to your goal, then 1 or 1/2 pound a week might be more realistic.

Rather than changing your goals, I would make sure you are eating all of your calorie allowance and see how this goes for a few weeks. Remember thatt MFP has already calculated a calorie deficit for you so you don't need to eat under your daily allowance.

Also, you will probably find that weighing at night vs morning makes a difference. It's better to pick a time (like morning for example) and weight in at this time once a week.

you should probably re evaluate the calorie goals. as you body weight changes, you;ll need a few less calories. just go to settings , and update fitness/diet profile. adjust your weight and how much you want to lose per week and hit update.

also, 2 pounds a week might be too much. try a pound and a half for a little.

Yes, I have a ton and a half to lose. Typical first weeks for me are more like 4-6 lbs though. I think I lost 12 when I went to Jenny Craig but that is because everything was measured and I did not eat everything because I did not like most of it. I just want to make sure I am not doing anything wrong. I have heard how quick weight loss is bad. I love it! But on the other hand I want things to be done the right way so it stays off!!! I don't want to get into different bad habits. I try to get close to calories and the 200-300 less is not because I intentionally try. I am literally STUFFED with the amount of food I am eating. Or maybe the amount of fiber I am eating. Something!!!

    Thanks for the advice!!!

When I used to do Weight Watchers with friends who were bigger than me, I eventually got so incredibly jealous that they would be getting 10-12lb losses every week while I barely had a pound. They were following the program exactly right (we all were) but the simple fact was that because they were larger they got to have the big losses. I don't know if that has anything to do with what you're getting, just anecdotal evidence from 5 other women who were over 300lbs compared to me in the low 200's.

You know, I kinda like weighing in at night then again in the morning. Makes me feel happy to see an instant weight loss of anywhere from 2-4lbs in a night. I know its not real weight loss, just food weight but still. It helps keep me motivated.

Starting out you often lose a much higher amount of weight to begin with, aswell the more weight you have to lose, the more weight you lose at a time
