Question about Machines

Ok so does anyone have any advice on working out with the machines. I workout late at night so there is nobody really there to explain to me how I should adjust my seat or how far back the seat should be. I worry that I'm not working out correctly for those little things. I don't know if anyone else sometimes feels the same way when it comes to machines. Is there any good websites that I can learn different techniques with the free weights. I'm still getting adjusted to going to the gym so I haven't really met anyone to really help me on stuff like this.

I'm gonna suggest youtubing different exercises, I do that or even google-image it to give you a quick idea of positioning.
Some pieces have diagrams or directions on the machine. If you're not lucky enough to have those research your workout ahead of time, write down what you'll be doing (shoulders..legs, whatever) and know what equiptment you'll be using ahead of time then looking it up beforehand.
I'm guessing you're doing more than just cardio? Those machines are pretty straight-forward.0 -
Actually, I overlooked the free-weights part, sorry.
Maybe something like this site:
http://www.dumbbell-exercises.com/
Shows the basics with moving diagrams.
