I have been on this site for a few months and I am about 4 lbs away from my goal weight. Lately I have been having the hardest time staying focused with my eating. What do you do to keep you going?

I schedule a photo shoot! Then you'll have to drop those few lbs.

think about not getting laughed off stage, or even better, actually winning a trophy. Yep, that pretty much does it for me.

Ditto this...I find something to work on. Maybe it's signing up for a race so I have to train for it. Knowing that it will be more difficult if I deviate from the training schedule helps me stay on track, & inevitably I feel better after sticking to it.

Forget about the goal and focus on it being a lifetime commitment. I don't workout and eat right to hit a goal..it's to be healthy 50 years from now. I workout to maintain my health..that way I will never plateau.

Currently buying clothes that are still too tight to wear.... I have a ways to go before goal weight but this is not a quick fix, this is a lifestyle. I take days off intermittently and then stick to my healthy choices most other days.

I keep new information in front of me and look at alot of success stories, ive been slacking lately but its time to notch it up
  • I have fun when I workout so I guess that's my motivation.. I love endorphins. Heavily addicted.

Excellent point! I do intend for this to be a lifestyle change not just another diet.

I think about how small I used to be. Up until I was about 20, I weighed 95lbs. (I am only 5'0) and I think about how I look in my photos, and how I liked being small. That is motivation itself for me!

Once I have a goal that I like, I don't have trouble staying motivated. So, for me, the key is to find something else after I've accomplished what I set out to. I started out just wanting to lose about 10 lbs (about 2.5 years ago), then realized I could go for more like 25 if I became a more dedicated runner, then got interested in P90X & did a few rounds of that. I'm now doing StrongLifts 5x5 (heavy lifting) and preparing for a 10 mile ToughMudder.

Don't be afraid to do something different. And reach for more after you've achieved something. :drinker:

I go back and look at old pictures of my self and how uncomfortable and bloated I looked.
