Hi All,

Does anyone get really hungry the day AFTER excercise? Im doing the C25k and just really really needing more! What do i do, im almost eating my exercise calories on the day of excercise but i dont do C25k until the evenings....

Any advice?

  • If you could save a handful of calories for after your workout, maybe the next day will be a bit easier? worth a shot.

It depends, sometimes if I workout early in the morning, I will be hungry that day if I had a great burn. This is actually the reason why I personally prefer to exercise at nighttime. This way If I am hungry, I can just go to bed - LOL.

do you eat something after your work out? a protein shake could really help, and it's light enough that you won't give you nightmares if you drink it right before bed.

    try this:
    4-6 oz fruit juice
    handfull of frozen berries
    1/4 plain low fat yogurt
    1-2 tsp protein powder
    pinch of salt
    blender
  • Thanks i do eat after my work out, but im not really hungry by then!

seriously, try the shake. its liquid, so its not exactly the same as eating. and then have a nice dinner an hour or so later.

Are you eating back your exercise calories? My wife had the same problem until we found out about 'starvation mode'. See my blog (link below)
  • Yeah im eating them most of the time, but im not eating that many carbs.....maybe its the carb thing?

If you are consistent with your burn (almost eating exercise calories sounds like you've got a cut-off which you don't eat after) fit the extra calories in earlier in the day... might make you less likely to skip workouts if you've already eaten factoring them in!

I get really hungry the next day too. I exercise after work so tend not to eat my exercise calories the same day as my dinner fills me up enough, so I save some of them for the next day. As long as you plan your meals and don't over do it the next day then it balances out ok over the week, MFP can show you your weekly calories from Monday to Sunday.
Some nights I go to a 3 hour dance class and the thought of coming home and eating 1000+ calories just makes me feel sick but the following day I can snack on nuts or have avocado with my lunch. Everyone is different though so it might take you a few weeks to find a plan that works for you.

Also, not sure what stage you are on C25K but if you are doing a lot of running then I'd up the carbs a bit. I tried a low carb diet once while still running and it did not work for me.
