My new favorite thing! Homemade Granola bars!
I absolutely love these and have made about 6 batches since I found the recipe 2 weeks ago.
You can put any dried fruits and nuts in you want. Maybe dried apples and cinnimon chips? or dried pineapple and coconut? the possibilities are endless... and they are so easy.
2 cups of rolled oats
1/2 C wheat germ
1 C sliced almonds (or any other nut you like)
1/2 C bitter or semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 C Craisins (dried cranberries)
1 can fat free sweetened condensed milk
mix together and press into a foil-lined and sprayed 8 x 8 or 6 x 9 baking dish
bake at 350 for 30 minutes
let cool to room temp and put in fridge to harden - makes easier to cut!
cut into 16 bars or squares
Only 206 calories per bar and totally awesome.

Oh I found that recipe in the newspaper a few weeks ago and my 8yo daughter loves them. I use dried cherries for her but didn't think about trying fat-free condensed milk. I did add an 1/8 c. of peanut butter in the last batch and it made them super moist and tasting like a peanut butter cookie. She said they were fantastic!

Yes the C is for cup... sorry I did this recipe from memory... but I've made them so much it's not hard to remember.
I have switched up the nuts and used walnuts in my last batch (made last night). I eat these for breakfast... much less sodium than the breakfast bars I usually eat.0 -
