My ticker moved! My ticker moved! I lost two pounds! Well maybe more. The last time I weighed in I think I was between 155-156 and today it said 152. Yea! I was kind of expecting it to go down since my body is finally returning to normal.
Bobbie, I am glad your appointment went well!
CP, I hope all goes well with your defense! I will say a prayer for you that you get all your work done and it turns out great!
How's everyone else? Karen? How are you today?
Well, this may be a long post but I will try to keep it short. Alex has a chest cough.
He's on antivirals so he should get over it quickly. I really hope DH and I don't get it. If we do, we will live. I am going to try to spend some more time with Alex today because he's been a pill. I think he needs attention. Other than that I am going to try to get a walk in and we are going to go to the library to get a book about learning Russian. DH already knows some. The reason I am trying to learn it is because we have been talking (since last October) about adopting a child or two from there. It's going to be obvious the Lord's hand is in it if it works out because it is horribly expensive ($20k-40k) and there's no way we can come up with that kind of money. We still want to have our own kids but we feel led to pursue this. We're in the beginning stages, so it may all still fall through. We're doing a lot of research and praying about it so we will see what happens. Anyway, I just wanted to share that with you all!
I have also noticed that talking to people about the miscarriage actually has made me feel better. That's because I start telling them about what the Lord has done in me and shown me through the whole thing and then I feel encouraged! It's really pretty neat to see how He's worked in me over the last couple of months!
Okay, so I am done chatting now. Goals:
drink water (slacking on this!)
go to library
go for a walk
spend time with Alex.
Happy Friday to you all!
MM

MM - sorry to hear about Alex! It sucks to be sick, right now I've lost my voice and I can feel my ears starting to plug up. Also, good luck with the adoptions...they are a lot of hassle but so worth it!
My goals today are:
calories!!! I've been doing good, but it hasn't been easy.
Water!!!! - I think I've gotten maybe 32oz of water in a day for the last couple days.
Running 2.5 mins without stopping!0 -
Hi everybody. . .
I'm hoping everyone has at least one piece of good news today, or a little moment where you get a burst of energy and renewed positivity. (that's also my wish for me!)
Missed another workout yesterday, and I'm cranky because I essentially let a person I work with pressure me out of leaving early enough to go to the gym "it's only one day. . .God forbid you miss one day of the gym!" (insert sarcastic, condescending tone with the previous quote) I'm still sort of stewing about it. I really, really wanted to stay on my schedule. Grrr. But, at the end of the day, it was my choice to listen to her BS.
My goal for today is to leave on time to get to bikram. And to hear good news that the strike is going to be over soon. (heck, I'd settle for "ever")
MM, check out your library and see if they have a "Rosetta Stone" computer program for Russian. It's sort of a computerized flash-card teacher. . .they're awesome. (you can buy them, too. . .but they're pretty pricey)
Karen, I hope you're doing well today. . .the tickers move sometimes in the direction we don't want them to. I'm just about to update mine to reflect that I'm up three pounds. (Sigh.) I am thinking about you and your mom, and shame on me for not telling you so. :flowerforyou::flowerforyou:
Whoa. . .I guess that's my book for today.
Take care of yourselves!:flowerforyou:
oh hey, check it <

MM - I had a friend who adopted from China. It was expensive, but she didn't have a spouse and wanted children. I'm not sure how people afford kids in the first place. My brother's family just had their 5th child (and first one together, make sense?) - I'm going over there tonight - My SIL had a C-section on the 2nd and is having a party tonight - and I whine when my feet hurt  You moms are amazing.
V - I suppose the proper response is "God forbid I miss 1 hour of overtime." People can have a really skewed notion how much energy should go into their job. But really, you and I know that she was jealous that you ranked the gym as a high priority. She probably feels that she should too.
Yesterday - walked just under 6 miles. Today is bike ride.
Goal for the day - stop thinking about myself.0 -
I just want to say that I am really glad that I joined up with this little group. Even when I don't have much time to post or even focus on fitness, I really enjoy peeking in on the SBF thread and seeing what you all are up to.
:flowerforyou:
Viv - ugh, sorry that you let her get to you. I feel so fortunate that most people around me are supportive, because I am really susceptible to that sort of thing as well. Mary's right - she probably has her own reasons for pressuring you or trying to make you feel bad, but it's YOUR job to take care of yourself. She sure isn't going to!
MM - I have a co-worker who adopted from Russia maybe 10 years ago. I don't think they knew any Russian when they went, though! Their daughter was about 2 when she was adopted so she was speaking a little Russian already but I don't think she remembers too much any more.
Mary - stop thinking about yourself, huh? That goal sounds like it has a little bit of something behind it - but, of course, you'd probably have to think about yourself in order to explain it. A Catch-22!
Have a happy Friday, all! :flowerforyou:0 -
Hi girls, my good news for the day is I went out for a an hour of snowshoeing yesterday and hope to get a short walk in today after I drive the bus. That and DH went grocery shopping with me and we bought all the fresh stuff I like to eat for my "diet". I don't think of it as a diet really, just a better way of eating. Fresh salads for lunch which had gone by the wayside.
MM I hope Alex feels better soon. I have never met anyone who adopted before but it does sound expensive. My mom used to say when a door closes another one opens. You are in my prayers.
Vivia, thanks for thinking of me and mom. I was down there for a couple of days when she had her biopsy and we will know more soon. It really seems like it takes forever to get a diagnosis and I'm sure I won't want to hear it. I'm pretty sure we will just be buying time. I think you should have put yourself first and gone to the gym. I know that sounds selfish but nobody will care about it as much as you. I also think everyone needs their own time, not always at work, or cleaning or stuff like that. Everyone just needs some "personal time". Remember you count too!
Mary, wow, 6 miles. I'm having problems with 1 mile. Good for you. My kitty had to go on some meds for his hyper thyroid. I finally asked the vet which it was. I thought one of the meds he was on was for it but that was for his hips. He gets tested again in a week. I'm hoping for lower numbers. How are your kitties doing?
Hi cp005e and Renae, hope you have a great day!
Goals:
all my water, and vitamins
salad for lunch and stay within my calories
a walk this afternoon0 -
My new goal!!!
"Walk Out of Iraq" It's from Today until April 17th. (Sponsored by the gyms on post here)
The goal is to go 430 miles (from Baghdad to Kuwait)
Free T-shirt to those who make it
It's about 4.39 miles a day - so some days I'm going to hit the bike hard so I can keep up with my running and still make the miles.
I'm not starting my ticker over because I still have an overall goal of 1,300 miles (From Ft Riley, KS to Home...Jax, FL) so my ticker will have to say 452 by April 17th! :noway:
Well, I've already ran/walked a mile today (could of done more but had my old shoes) so I'm getting dinner and going back to hit the bike and make some progress.

K - My hyperthyroid kitty just had his meds bumped, but he's doing ok. He's 18 years old and seems happy. You'll get to walking more I'm sure.
CP - I was having too many of those "oh, poor me" moments. I really have an easy and good life and should appreciate it more.0
