It varies, I hover around 45% carbs, 30 protein and 25% fat. But then again, I swithc that every 30 days to keep my body thinking. If you are hungry, you might not be eating enough but it's hard to tell without seeing your diary. One thing that also helps hunger is plent of water and having meals that consist of both protein and complex carbs.

It depends on what you're trying to achieve. I have my protein set higher than MFPs default, which automatically reduces the carb and sugar settings. I let it take more of the fat than the carbs, as along with the increased protein I need things that way as I'm trying to tome up as well as lose weight.

I think you may get 100s of points of view on this. I myself prefer a balanced diet which consists of:
Carbs between 45 and 60%, I tend to like the 45-50%
Protein from 10-30%, if you workout 15-30%, I tend to push the 20-30%
Fat should be 20-30% of total calories for a balanced diet

Anywhere within the ranges above would be considered balanced but if you want to feel full you may want to go on the high end for protein, and make sure your carbs are whole grain and have a good amount of fiber.
  • Thanks, everyone. Right now I'm trying to eat a higher (healthy) calorie breakfast to combat the afternoon hunger. I usually eat very little in the morning, a smaller lunch, and then I'm starving by dinner and overeat my portions. I've entered everything I plan to eat today and my allowance is 55 g fat, 62 g protein, 19 g fiber. I will be under in fat with 37 g, way over in protein with 125 g, and over in fiber with 40 g. I'm just wondering if I should adjust my percentage to allow for less fat and more protein.

I would try to make breakfast and lunch a little larger an then have a snack between each. I actually eat 7 or 8 times a day so I can get my 2800 calories.

I would eat more at breakfast and lunch and add an afternoon snack so you are not so hungry. From what you are saying you eat
    37gs fat = 333 cals = ?%
    125 protein = 500 cals = ?%
    ? Carbs = ? cals = ?%
How many carbs do you eat?
FYI, fat is good for you if you get it from the correct source.

    OP,

There are two types of nutrients/foods that can make you feel full longer. You don't really need to change your percentages of macros.

One type is complex carbs. The other is casein protein that you get from dairy products like milk, cheese, etc.

My settings are the MFP default, but I usually am quite a bit under on carbs and a little over on protein and I only track saturated fat, so I really have no idea what mine are. I rarely get hungry though, and when I do, I eat something.

Why not just have an afternoon snack if you are hungry?
