HRMs and pausing between sets...

So I have a question about HRMs... I've just started done an hour in the gym, moving from machine to machine, working each muscle group. 3 sets of each (12-15 reps, depending on the muscle/exercise). Anyway... my question... I started my HRM at the beginning of the hour, then stopped at the end. So I logged 61 mins in total, obviously this includes rest time in between each exercise, of maybe 1-2 mins, and obviously "weight changing" time, as well as travelling between machines. Should I be pausing the HRM inbetween, or is it OK to keep it going for the full hour ?
Obviously my heart rate drops during rest, moving between machines etc etc, but that's normal with any exercising right - I do a lot of interval training on the CV machines, so the heart rate goes up and down all the time - and THEN I keep the heart rate monitor on the whole time I'm actively exercising.
So.... I didn't overdo it today, as I went spinning last night, so I did a gentle circuit, no rushing - I burned 300 cals doing the weight machines circuits, in 1 hour.
Did I do the HRM correctly ?

I would say that it's fine. When I weight train, I never pause mine between sets.. I just let it run, and figure all that in.
HRM's are pretty much useless for strength training anyway because when you lift, it increases the pressure thus making your heart rate shoot up. I'd use those calories more as a guide and not as a definite answer as to how much your burning during circuit training.0
