I threw my son a Dr. Seuss birthday party for his first. I covered all the tables in bright table cloths, had 2 Dr. Seuss books at each table with Sharpies for people to write him messages in them instead of having a guest book. All of the food was created around things from the books... we had Mini Ham Salad Sandwiches and deviled eggs died green for "Green Eggs & Ham", mini pita pockets filled with turkey salad for "There's a Wocket in my Pocket". I took styrofoam cones and cheese cubes on toothpicks and created Cheese Trees from "Fox in Socks". We had animal crackers for "If I Ran the Circus", mixed nuts for "Horton Hears a Who", a fruit tray for the Truffula Fruit... I can't remember the rest. Lol. It was all labled so that people understood it, with a print out of the book cover it went with. Let's see.... we had spiral decorations in all kinds of colors hanging from the ceiling. And my grandma made him his cake. It was a 3D cat in the hat face... here's a link to the cake I got the idea from...

the party turned out great and everyone loved it! As favors (which we didn't do) you could do, for kids, the little cardboard Dr. Seuss books. Message me if you need more details or want to see my personal pictures from our party :-)

    I'm a teacher and I love this!

I think you should make her the princess she is...Use pinks and glitz. Have her a pink Tutu ...http://www.poshlittletutus.com/category_8/Tutu-Dresses.htm great ideas here she needs a crown. Hers needs to be special, but these are cute for the guest to wear.http://www.partymart.com/home.asp?id=65&idcatnav=2&gclid=CPOns7usrKsCFcEZ2godjVH34Q I agree she needs her own small cake. These are also a hot item righ now and great for small kids. I make these in my business. They are not hard at all... http://www.poshpastriesbylacie.com/cake-pops.html. what about a great creamy pink punch?http://www.cooks.com/rec/view/0,199,155175-244203,00.
If I know you there will be lots of people and family so if you are thinking about feeding them you could go with Tea sandwiches,Fruit tray and use the fruit dip tented pink. http://www.recipebloom.com/2010/12/fruit-dip-recipe/
This is an idea for a cake...http://www.recipebloom.com/2010/12/fruit-dip-recipe/ for others to eat beside the wee ones.
I would use Tulle to decorate. it is cheap, but very pretty. Pink Boas will also be cute to use. Hobby Lobby runs these on sale alot. Last but not least plates...im sure you can find these at your local store, but these are so cute...http://www.1stwishes.com/Lil-Princess-1st-Birthday-Ultimate-Pack/62010/PartyKitDetail.aspx
wish I lived close I would love to help and make the food for you.

I'm planning my son's 1st birthday party right now - he'll be 1 in November. His will be a race car theme, which I'm sure isn't really up your alley

BUT, I have a great idea for a birthday party that I plan on using when he is 5 or 6 (because I want him to remember it). Circus theme! Cotton candy, popcorn and sno cone machines, clowns, face painting, different games, etc. etc. I can barely wait to have that party. I just really hope that he's not afraid of clowns :ohwell:

Have you ever heard of the website Pinterest.com? It's a virtual bulletin board where you can "pin" different ideas, recipes, pictures, anything you want. You make different bulletin boards and pin stuff accordingly - that's where I've gotten ideas for my sons birthday party. I think the only way you can join is by being "invited" so, if you want, just PM me your email address and I can send you an invite.

    Happy planning! :flowerforyou:
