Trouble in paradise... Already??

I am sad.
My love story with my Polar FT4 has come to an abrupt end... For several months, it seemed to work just fine, but all of a sudden, I keep getting out of whack readings... One second my hearbeat is at 0 %, the next it reads 114%.... not at all plausible.
I tried changing the battery, when through the owner manual and everything... but I can't find any satisfying answer as to why it would suddenly be so off.....
Has any of you experienced something similar with your HRM??

Hi N,
I have had erroneous readings of 190 and sometimes over 200. I found adjusting or re-doing the band around my sternum takes care of the problem. I have sent mine back to Polar once to repair a button on the side and they were quick to repair it and add newer parts. I have one of the older versions...not sure what model, but it still works great! Good luck!0 -
All right, I'll give it a try... glad to know that Polar offers good customer service! :-)0

The Polar Heart Rate Monitors have been the bane of my existence! I have used the high end version and the low end version and each time they go out on me either by not reading my heart rate correctly or doing what yours is now doing.
However that being said, I keep going back to Polar because they have the best features. I bought an Ironman triatholon and I hate it and only use it as a back up when the Polar is being repaired :>)0 -
My friend has difficulties with her Polar. I bought a different model and have had pretty smooth sailing so far with consistent readings. Good luck!0

Get a Precision XT model. I've had mine for 7 years now and no issues except that I wore out the watch band from wearing it all the time (it's my watch too) and I use mine AT LEAST 2 times daily. That's not counting the timer settings I do for Fitness evaluations. And it's reasonable. Mine is a Reebok, but I believe they make a Bowflex model now, but it's the same exact HRM.
Oh and my watch band replacement was $10.0
