I got a sewing machine for Christmas and taught myself how to sew! I love it except I don't get a lot of time for it as I'm studying online and I have two kids :p But I still sew! I'm not a really crafty person so it's nice to have this hobby :D

I knit, crochet and do a bit of sewing. I also do chutney and jam making. I can't throw away anything with buttons, zips or ribbon on without stripping it off!

I'm a teacher aide by trade, and the course I'm doing is a Diploma of Education Support (so a big qualification for my job which needs no qualification.. but I've been doing it for 10 years so I decided to give myself a challenge)

    What are you studying?

I sew, quilt, crochet, make cp soap and all things bath and body and a bit of embroidery. I have a few holiday gifts in the works, including some fun felt/embroidery for my boyfriend featuring Futurama, and some quilted/sewing projects for my nephews. And I think I'm going to make new valances for my mom, she's super hard to find gifts for!

Im looking for some kind of craft to get into. I recently graduated from college, finally at the age of 30. I also cancelled cable tv. Sooo now I have lots of time on my hands.
I was just thinking today I need to find something to keep me occupied, and hopefully something I can turn into Christmas gifts.
I will be watching for ideas!

Get yourself a sewing machine :D Prior to Christmas I'd never touched one, but now I'm pretty okay and making things and everyone appreciates it :D

It gives me a buzz when I'm wearing a skirt i've made and someone asks where I bought it :D

Oh my land! That sure brings back memories. When I was a kid my mom and grandma would always recylce old clothes by cutting off the buttons and zippers. They they would use the material to make patchwork quilts and braided rugs. I loved looking at the quilt on our bed with my sisters and point out the squares of fabric and recall who's dress or shirt or skirt it was from.

I sew, silk-screen and am pretty handy with paint/makeup/latex.

My halloween routine stretches across weeks, as I plan, shop and make my costume and pumpkin stencils. I'm such a nerd.

They're available in the UK (kids sizes only) but they're easy (and cheaper) to make yourself.

Google "sheepbear eleshirt" and my friend has a 'how to' there, his directions, my photos. But be prepared to ruin one shirt to make another. :)

Yesterday a friend said she is going to hire me to teach her daughter to sew! I'm so excited, the daughter is really sweet and super smart. I only have nephews so it's always fun to be around girls (so much less violent!)

Quilting is so fun! When I was younger and learning to sew (jr high/high school) I figured I would never want to quilt because I hated the patterns I saw...traditional triangle and baskets and stuff. But modern quilt patterns are so much fun! Is there a Modern Quilt Guild in your area? They've been springing up all over and are a great place to meet other quilters!
