I am from Cali and most of us consider miracle whip a sin, lol

Hubby spent a lot of time in the south and miracle whip is bigger there than here so I definitely think it has a lot to do with where you are form.

Just wanted to add that this is an endless debate in our house! It's kinda funny

I'm more a mustard guy, but would definitely choose Hellman's mayo over Miracle Whip. Miracle Whip is weird to me, even though I grew up with it. My mom still tries to give me stuff with Miracle Whip on it. And I won't eat it.

Is it a regional thing? Of those in the US that like Miracle Whip, are you in the south? (I'm from and still live in Texas, where Miracle Whip is popular)

    First: http://theoatmeal.com/blog/miracle_whip (thanks, Marcia)

Second: My step mom puts it on EVERYTHING and I hate it. I love mayo and mustard depending on my mood, and Ketchup grosses me out. (My step mom is from Indiana, too, Ken. So, I don't know about it being a southern thing.)

*My best friend (also from Indiana) grew up with it, too, but loves it!

Kewpie Mayonaisse! It's really creamy and made with rice vinegar instead of distilled vinegar. I think it does have MSG though.

And have to admit, I'm 44 years old and have never tried Miracle Whip. I grew up in California and my mom always used Best (Hellmann's out East) and never thought of buying anything else for a mayo.

Yes! You can get it from an Asian store.

It's called Kewpie. Here it is:

That's what makes it good, just like the MSG in Bacon!

  • I've never liked the flavor of Miracle Whip. I hate fat free mayo, but the light is good and way better on the calories.
