Hi Guys!
I am new and in need of accountability, I am trying to get off of drinking diet coke, and instead replace it with Iced Tea. I am at my heaviest weight right now of 235 lbs, and I am only 5'2. I have been battling with my weight for years now. It seems the more I TRY, the more I gain. Its something else. I never thought I would be over 200 pounds, but I am. I am no longer upset about it, I am focused and ready to lose it. I will be 30 years old next month....so i really want to get things together and at least start going down in pounds...and closer to my goal.

You can do this! I am in the same boat and just a couple years older than you. I have let school(nursing student here), kids, and husband bog me down without taking much time for myself. Here is just a suggestion.. Don't change your diet abruptly. Little changes here and there will ease you into healthy eating. I, too, am new. I am also finishing school and will graduate this Dec. Talk about stress. And a really good way to lose focus. I think this site really helps hold yourself accountable, but also a good way to find friends and they can also cheer you on your journey. By the way, October is a good month to have a B-day. I quit smoking the day after my 30th birthday Oct. 11, almost 3 yrs ago. Happy birthday to us!!
Hang in there and don't lose hope!0 -
Hi!
Thank you sooooooooooo much for your post. It made my welcome all the more sweet. I am in school too (Theology). Congrats on almost being done.... I know how hard it can be to try to juggle eveything.
I like your suggestion of slowly making changes instead of forcing it all at once. Perhaps that was my problem before.
I gotta say that I have 4 new friends on here in just about 15 minutes since joining...wow, impressive. I was on BuddySlim before, and they tend to stick to themselves there. But here, I can feel the welcome and I think it will be a good fit for me to be here.
Thank you!0 -
@Justice2012: feel free to add me as a friend on MFP if you want to- I am pretty new here my self- our stats and age are very similar. It would be great to have someone who is in the same place as I am to start this journey with.
GL with everything0 -
Gela...
Yes! Of course..I just added you.
I would be honored to take this journey with you and see where it leads us....I want to be here through all the good and the bad.. I know it is going to be tough. I have tried before and failed many times. But I have not given up yet (:0 -
Hello. I too am new to this page. I am not at my heaviest. In 2007, after giving birth to my second child, I weighed in at 220lbs, where i seemed to have maintained it for 3 years. In 2010 I joined Curves. I went from a size 18-20w to a 16 regular. I currently attend curves and have managed to lose an overall of 30lbs! Dieting is not my thing. I have tried it many times before and all I gain is a head ache, a rumbling stomach and I continuously fall off the wagon. I was recently diagnosed with hypertension, glucose intolerance and possibly thyroid problems ( I wait patiently for the results). My life consists of sitting for long periods at a time (in a vehicle or at the office). And I am always on the go. I need pals that I can relate to. I need motivation and support. Plus, I believe i can give some in return.0

Just a note about coke I drunk like 3-4 liters of coke zero a day while I was on vacation a month ago.
It really didnt mess with my diet or had problems loosing while I was drinking that in excess actually it made me feel full.
Just dont buy that Iced Tea make some tea and put that in the fridge.
They put freaking sugar in everything.
Like salty crackers freaking sugar, peanuts roasted with some flavor there we go sugar again.
Eat whole food.
Remove sugars,candy and bubbly drinks.
Add more meat to your meals. Meat stops cravings.
Drop snacking and even drop one meal if You have many in a day.
I told myself the same thing this year and managed to drop all my weight this year so going into 30 looking slick (Going to be 30 in December).
Btw. my fiancee joined my weight loss but she only had to loose like few kg and she did it with 3 days 1h exercise and we cooked cleanit worked.
So if You have any questions shoot or if You want to add me as friend feel free
Good luck!0 -

NSImportant,
I like your suggestions, thank you so much for them! I am a vegatarian though, so the meat on is out of the questions, but I thought your other suggestions were great. Lets see if I can apply them in real life. That is the hardest part of course. We all KNOW what to do, but its about doing it.0 -
