Losing weight without excersing is making me even more lazy than before, I started off excersing eating well and losing weight.. but slowly the exercise stopped happening daily, weekly... and now I'm still losing 2lb a week without doing nothing but calorie reducing. But I know if I don't get my *kitten* working the loose skin is gunna end up even worse, and I'll only regret it in a few years down the line!!

I'm way in the mode for healthy eating now, I can't even remeber how the hell I used to eat so much. Finding out what real portion sizes are AND feeling full from it?!? It's crazy and I know I'll never go back to overeating, which is why I need more than ever the motivation to exercise. I don't wanna go through this journey at the end and just be left a big ball of spare skin.

How do you motivate yourself to exercise?!

Being honest, there isn't even a real reason I can't exercise, it's not like I don't have the time, I'm home most of the day my son naps 2 hours of the day and goes to bed 3 hours before me and plays in his cot for an hour after I've woken up. So theres PLENTY of time for me to do it. I'm just SO lazy. I know I should, I say I will.. But I don't!

How to break the lazy habbit?

Oh I should probably add, I'm not always lazy - I still wanna clean and play with my boy, if I go out I'll walk a normal pace and go out my way to make the journey home longer ect, it's just when it comes to pure out excersing. like the 30ds which I'm trying to get back into

I understand where you are coming from on this subject. My best advice is to find exercise you want to do. I am tired of walking, tired of exercise and kick boxing videos. But.... lately my husband found a deal and got us a barely used XBOX 360 with KINECT and it is AWESOME! Rented this game from Gamefly - Dance Central and I am hooked. I have zero rhythm and have never been able to dance but this game is teaching me. I now dance all the time and sweat pours off me for my 30 minute workouts. My abs are sore but I have so much fun.

Exercise that isn't fun, isn't going to happen for me. There are too many not fun things I already have to do. So, find something that you enjoy and do that,.

Something that has worked for me is to schedule exercise. I used to actually schedule half-hour workouts and write them on my calendar just like I would any appointment. Make a realistic plan, though; maybe schedule 3 half-hours a week to start. And I used to tell people things like "I'm going to exercise at 3:00 today--call me around 5 to ask how it went." Knowing that someone else might think I'm lazy or whatever was motivating.

But also walking is great exercise, so don't beat yourself up if that's "all" you do--just maybe pick up the pace a bit or find some hills if you want to feel more of a challenge.

Also you can bribe yourself (preferably not with food!), like "I can only watch TV after I've worked out" or "I can only listen to that new album while exercising" or whatever. And then stick to it.

    Thanks.

I was thinking about getting a wii and zumba, everyones always raving about and I want a go!

And as for hills, I live in the LAND of hills it seems. I live on top of a big one both sides so I'm slowly getting used to them, although I guess I could beat my time going up them :)
  • I've got Wii Zumba and its great! I highly recommend it. I also have a cross trainer that I use when the kids are at school or in bed. I usually use it when I'm watching Eastenders lol

To get me out of the house on a regular basis I also enrolled myself for adult swimming lessons at my local leisure centre where they have a creche for under 5's. I paid upfront and so 'committed' myself to go, week in week out, no excuses. I find being around other like minded people makes me want to exercise too. The leisure centre also run spin classes, body combat, aerobics etc...maybe you want to try something that gets you out the house and with other like minded people? Do you have a leisure centre near by?

I'm also on Day2 of the 30DS. I'd had this for about a week before taking it out the wrapper and actually starting it - I joined a thread on here with others who were wanting to start it too. This certainly helped motivate me.

following the other suggestions, perhaps you need some variation in your exercise. there are a lot of wonderful programs out there....but nothing is all that wonderful unless its something that motivates you to use it. check out bodyrock.tv and try some of those workouts. they are kick butt and most of them are under 30 minutes.

Let me add that you absolutely can continue losing weight by simply eating right and NOT exercising. however, as you hinted at, exercise does have some benefits that you can't get from nutrition alone. remind yourself of those benefits. tell yourself that you don't want the loose skin...that you want a sleek body when you lose all of the weight.

  • I know that feeling. Today is day one for me so getting my head around the calorie counting bit today. However, tomorrow will be getting out of bed early and going swimming. I love to exercise in the mornings it makes me feel so much better all day, especially as the weight comes off and I feel fitter and healthier. Am also going to dust of the Wii Fit and Just Dance II games. Here's to getting lovely and slim!!
