Only thing to keep in mind with the primal diet is it is hard for you to stick with it. Carbs are VERY tempting, even if you have great willpower.

With that said, I did a very similar approach for about 3 months, lost a ton of weight, and have kept it off 6 months later, and now I eat anything I want ;)

But as for what to eat, I am a huge meat eater, so I would just eat pissloads of chicken, fish and lean beef, and also nuts. Make sure you keep your fat intake up there, its even more important when you cut out carbs.

My go-to easiest paleo/primal meal is just meat and veggies. You can eat this for any meal...even breakfast. For quick and easy preparation, I keep Kroger frozen chicken breast handy. The breasts are thin/flat and saute quickly. Just heat a little olive oil, butter or ghee in a pan, throw in a few breasts and cook about 6min on each side. I use a different seasoning each time so I dont ever get tired of it. In another pan I do the same with veggies. Saute onion and mushrooms or my latest favorite....zucchini and onions. The meal is quick and easy to clean up. My husband and kids are getting used to eating this way and they don't miss the carbs.

When I have family or friends over we love steak or pork tenderloin on the grill. For veggies I toss broccoli or cauliflower, onions mushrooms red/yellow peppers eggplant etc. with basil or garlic olive oil, sea salt and ground pepper. Toss all the veggies together on a huge baking sheet and bake/roast at 400 for about 30 min. I usually flip/stir veggies every 10 min or so. The veggies taste like candy when they are done and the combinations are endless! In the fall I love to add in fresh beets, fall squash and sweet potatoes. So easy and filling. Of course if you can get grass fed or hormone free meat...all the better!
