Losers in Flight - Fly the World [Closed Group]
Hello team!! First I would like to thank all of you for joining my team for this awesome game!! I didn’t get to take part in the game last time, so I’m very excited to get started on October 1st for this one!
For in initial post from Lee with the information about the game can be found here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/341995-those-magnificent-mfp-s-in-their-flying-machines
So the rules are for every 1 calorie you burn, we as a team get moved 0.25 miles in our journey around the world. I’m all about examples (I’m going to school to be a teacher) so let’s say one day you work out and burned a total of 500 calories. 500 X 0.25 = 125 So on that day, you helped the team travel 125 miles!
At the end of every day, I ask that you please send me a private message with how many calories you burned for the day. And on every Friday, when you send in your calories burned, please also send in your weight on that day, that way we can keep track of that. I will be compiling the data on a Google Docs Spreadsheet, which can be found here:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AuxgGEP9b8OYdERMX2RvLW9jcVg1RVYxN2Rmb2pTS2c&hl=en_US
Lee is also keeping track of every teams progress on a Google Map, which can be found here:
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?msid=204655860575059420912.0004abdf0de2eadf90575&msa=0&ll=-3.864255,-154.335937&spn=144.829192,316.054688
And now, here is the list of our team members!!
MacSkillz
ncwingnut71
marshalemar
janiecorona
Pa2b32
Licacorona
hefinator
cj2lose
Please friend each other if you’d like! We’re all in this together and you can never have too much support!
You’re first assignment will be to post a little bit about yourself to get everyone familiar with each other! Ready – GO!

So about me -
My name is Lesley and I’m a 25 year old Financial Aid Counselor at a College in Massachusetts. My kids include a 3 year old Bichon/Poodle mix named Sagan and an 8 month old blue budgie named Pippin. My fiancé and I just recently got engaged – May 20th to be exact. We were on vacation down in Florida and were at Disney. We stopped to get our picture taken in front of Cinderella’s Castle and he proposed. One of the best days of my life! I have only been to Disney 3 times in my life (when I was 3, 6, and 25) and I have cried every single time.
As you can by the names of my ‘kids’, I’m a huge dork/geek. I am a very big into science - my B.S. is in Middle School Education and Science and my M.Ed, which I will finish in May 2011, is in Science in Education. I got my dog’s name from Carl Sagan who was an astronomer and was somewhat well known in the 70’s and early 80’s. I also enjoy reading (mostly sci-fi and fantasy stuff – as you can tell, my bird’s name I got from Lord of the Rings). I am currently reading The Song of Fire and Ice series… or as more recently known as The Game of Thrones series because of the HBO series. I started reading the books last year BEFORE I knew about the HBO show. It’s taken me a little while, but I’m finally on the 3rd book – A Storm of Swords – because I had so much school work this past year. Now I have a couple weeks off and I’m going full steam ahead and hoping to finish books 3, 4, and maybe even 5 before my classes start back up again. Besides reading, I also enjoy going to Renaissance Fairs, sword combat (My fiancé and I took a Viking Combat class last year), beer and wine tastings, camping, attend a local concert and spending time with my friends and family.
Obviously I am planning a wedding, which will be on 10/27/12, and I have made a goal for myself to walk the distance between my house RI and my grandmother’s house in FL. It’s a total of 1,300 miles and I started it on August 23. To date, I have walked 68.1 miles so far! Only 1231.9 miles to go!!
I also have a blog that I’ve been keeping about my weight loss journey - http://feedsparingly.blogspot.com/. On here, for my very first entry, you can read my story about why I finally decided to get my butt in gear and get moving to lose this weight. I started the blog on July 6th, but started my weight loss journey before then. To make it easier on you all, here is the link to my first entry: http://feedsparingly.blogspot.com/2011/07/fire-under-my-that-i-needed.html.0 -
Yay!
Ok, about me:
My name is Lynn. We live in North Carolina. I am 40 years old and I work in the Regulatory Affairs Department at a food flavoring company. Yes, all those big words you can't pronounce in ingredients - we use them  I'm maried - we'll be having our 21st anniversary on December 10th. I have 2 kids - My son is a Science Education Major with a concentration in Physics (he's 20) and my daughter is a Deaf Education Major with a minor in English (she's 18). We also have 4 furry bodies at our house - Georgianna, an 11yo boxer, Libby, an 8 month old boxer, Frankie, a ginuea pig, and Playboy the bunny  .
I graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in English. I have started working on a degree in Food Science. I have worked in quality control for 20 years. I love my job, even though it's one of the most hated in any manufacturing facility. I love knowing that I am responsible for what is going out the door is correct and up to customer standards. I love walking into stores and looking at our products. I've worked in the plastics industry, pharmaceutical, printing, and now food. It's an ever-changing process and a constant challenge.
I'm currenly doing the Eowyn Challenge - any Lord of the Rings buffs know that is a walk through middle earth. I started it at the beginning of the month. I'm currently traveling with the hobbits to Rivendell, home of the Elves.
Anywho - look forward to starting the challenge with you all!0 -
Hi, all!(:
My name is Janie. I'm usually not very good at the "About me" things but I shall give it a go.
I have an almost 10-month old daughter named Pemberley. I am a single mother and even though it is very difficult, it is the best thing that could have happened to my daughter and me.
I graduated with a BA from CSU Fresno in English. I have yet to decide what to do with it but i definitely want to get my Masters.
I have participated in about 3 challenges since I've joined in late July and I feel the challenges help keep me on track! So, I'm glad to have set one up for October already.
I can't wait to get started and I hope to get around the world in record time!0 -
Hello everyone - I am looking forward to achieving the best we can in this challenge and getting to know each of you!
My name s Marsha. I just turned 40 and have been heavy most of my life. I was introduced to MFP in March and have lost about 25 pounds so far - started off strong but has been at a standstill for the past couple of months - but I have also been dealing with a stress fracture so have been limited - starting to get back into the swing of things so should be good to go for our challenge.
We live in Newark, Ohio where I was born and raised. I am happily married to my best friend and we will celebrate our 7th anniversary in November. I have a 16 year old daughter, Bethany, and 4 stepdaughters - Deidra and Diana (21 year old twins), Raelisa (13) and Lynsie (12). I worked in the corporate office of Thirty-One Gifts as a Business Analyst. We own a sign company, which my husband runs full-time, but is getting busier everyday so it keeps me busy as well. I have a Masters in Business Administration degree from University of Phoenix.
My goals include building the sign company, have a successful career with Thirty-One Gifts, raise a healthy and happy family, and retire one day with Mike. Physically, I have a goal to lose about 75 pounds total - about a third of the way there. I have always had weak bones - ankle, knee, back and wrist - and by getting the weight off I am hoping that I can strengthen them as well so I will have fewer long-term problems. It is a struggle at times to work through the pain, but know it is best and I am determined to do whatever it takes to become healthier.0 -
Hi everyone! I'm a little late but here goes!
I joined mfp towards the beginning of the year by mere "coincidence" as I looked for an app on my iPhone that would help me track calories. I've lost more weight with mfp that ever simply by getting help tracking calories. The last time I was in shape was before becoming pregnant with my first baby but that was with the help of diet pills which I refused to take this time around. However, I have had moments when I just have no will power. Like now. So I really am looking forward to starting this challenge and getting a good push back into losing weight again and getting rid of another 25lbs.
Good luck everyone! And I hope to help others in need of motivation as well.0 -
Hello everyone! My name is Clare and I live in Tualatin, Oregon, basically where I grew up. I have 2 daughters ages 6 and 4 and I'm married. I work for a small software company where I renew support agreements. It is all phone and email so they allow me to work from home (main office is in Seatlle, WA). I get to see my girls most of the day but we do have a nanny that takes care of them since I work full time and so does my husband. I joined MFP in June 2011 because a friend of mine asked me to, but she has since stopped logging in, but I think it is great!
In 2008 I joined a fancy gym ($102/month) and thought it would be great but I ended up gaining the weight I am now trying to lose! At least 20lbs gained over a year and a half. I just knew too many people and ended up chatting more than working out, plus they have a nice snack bar and even an actual bar. I quit that gym and have been trying for a year to get motivated to lose weight by working out at home. I have all of the equipment, just no constant motivation. That is why I joined a Sept Challenge and now this October challenge. It has been keeping me motivated!
This should be fun!!0 -
Hey there, Hi there, Ho There!!! I'm Holly and I live in Everett, WA. I have a wonderful boyfriend and we live with my ancient cat PJ and our adorable Basset Hound Leela! I am a CAD drafter and work for a company doing facility management and space planning. I work on floor plans for Microsoft buildings world wide, and am the Lead person working with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation with their facility management! I like to remind people that just because they are Big Names, does not mean Big Pay, haha!!
I started MFP many many moons ago, but never stuck with it. I saw a new doctor at the end of June and she put my butt in gear! she told me that i was completely healthy and all my numbers looked great, EXCEPT my weight, and that was unacceptable. I agreed and started right away to get my butt in gear! Since August 1st, i've only lost 16 lbs, but feeling so much better about myself. I joined a gym on the 5th floor of my office building. i work on the 6th floor, so i have no excuse not to go! I also recently started doing Hot Yoga (Extremely difficult to do some moves with all my extra baggage, but still a great workout!)
I have about 110 lbs I would like to lose total, but if I can get under 200, i will be totally thrilled! 61 lbs til i'm there!! hehe! I'm excited to be part of another challenge! I was nervous when i joined my first one back in August, but i find they help keep me even more motivated and provide me with a lot of variety in my workouts, so i'm not bored!!
Can't wait to kick butt with you all this month!

Hey, you guys left me, but I will have to catch another flight and meet you guys in NY. It seems as if I am the only male crewmember on this airline. Personal Data: I am Emmanuel. I live in Orlando with my wife and offsprings, whom I am so blest to be given the task of taking care of. I am in the medical field which I love. My first born is away at school, and he calls home for money often, so I may not be able to make some missions as I have to take a second job to feed him. Joined MFP in May of this year, and have been a part of many challenges, but this is my first Round the World one. I am not so much into weight loss anymore even though I am not at goal. I look for the changes such as doing more than I could before, wearing smaller clothes, increased energy, and making my friends and family jealous of my successes(lol). I have come to love running as I always had an excuse not to do it in the past.
I have designated myself as the loadmaster of the crew as that is what my job was in the military. I do the dirty work. I cuss, swear, drink Parrot Bay, tell dirty jokes, am not religious but believe in a higher power(not necessarily God and Jesus), and have a sharp tongue when it comes to stupid posts. Feel free to request me as a friend, but if you find it offensive, it is in your best interest not to. Politically, I believe in a woman's right to choose, but am pro life. I hate guns, but respect the second amendment right to bear arms. I am a liberal, conservative, tea-party leftist, right wing communist. I believe all illegal aliens should be sent back to their country, after they have finished picking fruits and cleaning hotel rooms for the day. I believe you have the right to free speech, as long as you agree with me. And I believe that MODs are of the devil whenever they send me a warning letter, but are doing an awesome job keeping MFP clean for us all.
If after all that, you ladies have not kicked me off the plane at 30,00ft without a parachute, I promise to contribute a minumum of 1000 miles or 4000 calories a week. Nice to fly with you guys.
