Loose pants due to loss of muscle?

So I have a question to throw out into the void. I was on about a two month long plateau, so I decided to shake things up a bit. I've recently reset my weight loss goal to 1/2 lb per week, since I am within 10 lbs of my goal. It seemed to do the trick because my pants are much looser, but the scale is only down about a lb. I've only been exercising intermittently, because of well, life. My question is: should I be concerned that my baggy pants are due to muscle loss? I eat a decent amount of protein (over the grams recommended by MFP) and I eat at least 1200 calories a day. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Sometimes this can happen. You see inches or measurements lost, but not pounds. Mine is the opposite. I have lost 8 pounds, but do not feel any lighter. My pants fit too snug still, and it looks like I need to focus more on muscle toning. It sounds like your refining muscle, and gaining muscle weight, and losing fat weight.0

Yeah, think so too - losing fat weight and inches, not muscle.
Where do you carry most of the weight you're trying to take off? My pants got quite a bit looser as I lost the final 10 pounds because that's where most of the remaining excess fat was.0 -
Yeah I definitely carry the most weight around my hips and thighs. I was just concerned because even when I was working out pretty strenuously and eating well, I was about 2 lbs less than I am now and these pants were not loose at all. I haven't been doing much exercise to really put on muscle. Thanks for the input, I guess I should just relax and let my body do its thing. :-)0
