I have about a thousand-million running/lifting/workout mantras. It never occurred to me that I might need a nutrition mantra. That "nothing tastes as good as thin feels" crap doesn't work for me. It just isn't true. There are some things that do, in fact, taste better than thin feels. Otherwise, this site wouldn't exist.
I found one (by accident!) and it seems to be working. Whenever I want to give in to a little something, as a reward or as a consolation prize or just because, I think: "I will treat myself to BEING THIN". This has worked where nothing else does. Works better than: "I will get a haircut when I am thin" or "I will buy smaller jeans"...because my mind doesn't work that way. I can cut my hair NOW. I can buy jeans TODAY, and still eat trash while doing it. To imply that I don't deserve a treat because I want to weigh less just doesn't compute. I DO deserve a treat. NOW. TODAYNOWRIGHTNOWNOW! And the treat is...I care enough about myself to give the gift that keeps on giving. Being the in best shape of my natural born life.
