    Interesting. I've never come across an article that put the sugar alcohol "-tol" family on a good guys list.

    Refined sugar = bad. If you're just wanting regular old sugar, go with turbinado, it's raw sugar, many times sold under the brand name Sugar in the Raw. Far better than refined white sugar.

    I agree with the honey being the very best.

    There are different types as you most probably are aware, and many have resulted in feeding sugar to the bees.
    The very best which is quite expensive is Acacia.

    Pure white sugar, and occasionally brown sugar is all I use. Artificial sweeteners don't taste all that great.
