exercise calories

Hi all,

Posted this on the 'introduce yourself" forum but haven't got any replies so thought may be best to post here.. hope that's ok.

Am new to MFP, trying to lose maybe half a stone, and have a question.

At weekends I tend to eat over my goal calorie allowance (of 1350). I know I shouldn't but sometimes just can't avoid it. So in the week I'm really good, keeping to my calorie limit and doing exercise about three times a week. Should I be keeping to 1250 even when I do exercise, to mend some of the damage done at the weekend? Or should I be eating back my exercise calories anyway. Sorry if this question has been asked before - seen lots about eating back exercise calories but none that involve over-eating at weekends.

Thank you

xxx

although we measure things on a daily basis, that's not really how our bodies work. our bodies don't work in static 24 hour cycles. if MFP has calculated your calorie goal to be 1,350 (based on your BMR and goal weight loss), then you should aim for a net calorie intake of 9,450 per week (1,350 x 7). (you would eat more than 9,450 calories per week by the number of exercise calories you burned).
  • Thanks that's really clear and makes loads of sense :)
