Finally trying my HRM. Is a resting rate of mid-40's good?

I got a HRM last Christmas and have never really tried it before tonight. My resting rate is about 39-45. Is that good? I will be using it on my short run tomorrow...

Sounds pretty damn good to me.0

That's awfully low, are you sure the HRM is right? Try taking your resting heart rate with your fingers, either on your wrist (radial pulse, goes along the thumb side of your hand, or your carotid pulse in your neck. Count the beats for thirty seconds and multiply by two.0

Um, I'm not sure... my resting is in the 70's.. But everyone's metabolism varies and I'm a 25 year old active girl. So I can't say that's normal or not. Perhaps Google what a standard resting HR should be for a man your age and activity level.0

A healthy heart can beat stronger instead of more often. This makes it generally good for a lower resting heart rate.
I commend you!My resting rate is still in the upper 80s. It was 110 beats per minute last January. I am glad to get it down this far in such short time
You are doing really good to have that low of a resting heart rate. Not sure if any lower would be good, you are at a very good point right now.

I just took mine on my neck and it's 58. Is that good or bad for resting?0

thats very low.. like someone else said, check it yourself with a watch with a second hand..
if it truly is that low, i would suggest calling your doctor in the AM & make an appt to see him/ her. or if you dont have one, go to the urgent care or er.
bradycardia leads to very serious health issues..0 -

I would say that is pretty good! I just did mine because everybody made me curious and mine was 60. Check out this chart for more info! http://www.topendsports.com/testing/heart-rate-resting-chart.htm0 -

Thanks! I checked it out and it is good. I must be doing something right! LOL.
I was surprised to find that the more healthy you are the LOWER it is. I would have thought it the other way around. Learn something new every day here.0 -
Yes, I did two manual checks and they were both right on with the HRM!0
