so, i know plateaus are very common, but i have not been stuck on one for more than a week at a time, but this month has been exceptionally hard on me..i bust my *kitten* to work out and eat right, and i have only lost about 1/2 a pound this MONTH..usually i average 4-5 lbs a month. i have been stuck @ 138-139 since the 1st. i know i CAN get over it with harder work, but i have really been debating with myself weather i should keep trying for my goal ( about another 14 lbs ) or if i should just stay where i am and keep on maintenance mode..in on the fence right now..i would be ok with sticking where i am, but on the other hand, i would like to get to my goal..i have already lost just under 40 lbs, and i an a few lbs away from my PPW..i'm not asking yall what i should do, because i know its up to me, i want to know what yall would do it this was your situation..i look forward to the responses, and i hope everyone has a terrific day:drinker:

If you'd open your diary we could help you?
How many calories are you eating? The last few pounds come off very slowly and you have to make sure you are really feeding your body, so your weekly weight loss goal should only be 0.5lbs per week.0 -

Remember, Einstein's definition of insanity was doing the same thing and expecting different results. When what you're doing isn't working, it's time to do something different.
If I were stuck for about a month (and I have been before), I would switch things up. Up the intensity of my workouts or change to something different completely. I'd change the composition of my diet. I'd either eat more calories (or less if I were already eating well over 1200) and eat fewer processed carbs.
These things have worked for me in the past.0 -
i eat in between 1200 and 1800 cals per day, depending on if i work out or not..im still in the overweight range..i try to switch things up as best i can considering i dont have a gym membership, and cant afford it yet..i walk, bike ride, do wii workouts, etc..maybe i SHOULD change my goals..LoL0

I'm really not sure I would call it a plateau that you are at. You have lost this month- it hasn't been months without change. Even if it was small. I have gone 2 full months with no change before. If you are happy with where you are then call it a goal. If you think you would feel like you never really got to your real goal then I would keep the original goal. What would maintenance mode be differently from what you are doing right now anyway? Don't give up!0

When I was first losing weight a few years ago, I didn't go more than a week without some sort of loss. Then I hit a plateau for 13 weeks. 129 every. damn. day.I was soooo frustrated, and I toyed with continuing on to try and reach my goal (at that point only 4 lbs away) or just saying "eh, I'm fine here) I chose to keep going. I added some new recipes to my diet and started adding in some different exercises to my routine (I started yoga).
I'll be honest, I really waivered, and I think that my indecisiveness was part of what led to the plateau lasting as long as it did. Once I made the committment to push forward and started changing things up, those last 4 lbs came off. So, given that, if it were *me* in your shoes right now- I would tweak my routine and keep right on going! :happy:0
