Counting Calories at a party

Hey folks,
Question here. How do you track calories from food at a party, you know,
small sandwiches, veggies, salads and various party foods?
The company where I work is having it's annual meeting tonight,
and I'm trying to figure out how to track my dinner choices.

I limit myself to stuff i know i will be able to log and guesstimate the crap out of it.

Any record is better than no record.

you will not be able to track exactly, this will obviously jsut have to be an estimate. If you have been tracking for awhile you should be decent at estimating a tablespoon or 1/2 cup or other measurements. Just keep that in mind and go for the healthier options. when i am at an event like this i try to load with veggies first and then i estimate high just in case.

i'd enjoy myself, make guesstimates and then get back on track tomorrow
  • I just try to do my best to note what I'm eating so I can add it later. I think its natural to underestimate the amount of food you are eating at such things (especially dips and spreads and whatnot) so I try to overestimate the size of the portions I've eaten.

I suppose if you wanted to be hardcore about it, you could go into the bathroom and enter in the foods mid-party on your smart phone, but I think that's a bit overboard.

Also, I try to exercise more than usual before the party in anticipation of all those extra calories.

  • Thursday is my usual weigh day anyway, so I usually have a bigger meal
on Thursday to celebrate any weight loss. I'll try to be careful this evening.
