A little of the back story: I suffer from rheumatoid arthritis, and there's been times when my knees/feet/hands/shoulders hurt so bad that I wouldn't walk or pick up my baby. I see my rheumatologist regularly. She's mentioned a few times that I should lose a few lbs, because the extra weight puts unnecessary pressure on my knees, which bothered me. She is also very much into healthy living in general.

Well, I had an appointment with her this morning. First time since I started losing weight. She was VERY impressed by my weight loss and my health in general. I told her I started running and am feeling great. My joint pain is very rare now. And I’m not even back on my strong meds yet!!! (I’ve been off since before I got pregnant 2 years ago). I told her I am watching what I’m eating and I try to eat as little of the processed stuff as possible. Anyway, she told me she is doing a class at the hospital about healthy living and wellbeing and she asked if I would come and speak to the class about my journey. She said I am her first “self-motivated” patient, and she is very impressed with my progress :-)

You could just stand up and say My Fitness Pal and sit down again, lol!

Only joking, it still takes the will power and determination you obviously have, well done!

    Thank you all!!

For any of you that may suffer from joint pain, especially in knees/feet: every extra pound of weight you carry, adds 4-5 lbs of pressure to those joints. That was a big eye opener for me. And losing the weight does make a big difference! If you told me 4 months ago that I'd be running a 5K, I'd laugh and say no way, after all I have RA. But here I am.
