I have a bigger belly always have so I have stretch marks, I’m on a goal of losing 50+ pounds, is there something I should do to help them disappear as I’m losing weight? Like maybe lotion or something? I’m 214 going for 150 is there hope they’ll go away? Any advice will be much appreciated!

I've not tried too many lotions or potions (apart from bio oil which I do like) but I am covered in stretch marks. Losing weight and generally being a bit healthier has helped though. Instead of purpley red and angry they are silvery and almost invisible in some places so I think when they weight starts coming off it definitely helps. I hope it does for you or you find something to put on them that works wonders :)
  • Palmers Cocoa Butter. Don't get the lotion, get the actual butter. It comes in a small circular container. You can find it at any drug store. I usually apply it right after I shower. It works wonders. =)
  • Stretch marks will not completely go away, but they do fade with time. I love Bio Oil and I have heard that taking fish oil suppliments help. For those stretch marks that fade, I cover them with lotion with a self tanner. I find that helps. I have another 50lbs to lose and i know that I will always have marks and bumps, but I am trying to embrace them as a badge of what I went through.

Good luck and hope this helps.

Stretch marks are scars on your body. They will never go away without surgery.
If it makes you feel better 90% of women have them. Just something you'll have to embrace or save up that dough to get rid of them!
I'm sure there are some creams out there that will help them turn white faster like Mederma (I think that's what its called) You can buy it at walgreens.
  • I think Bio Oil works. Works on the face, too, for better skin.
  • i am covered to from my pregnancy. i have tried some creams but they dont work. right now i am tanning them away. well they are still there but not as dark.

The truth is that some people are lucky and they fade over time. There are other people though that are stuck with the stretch marks and only surgical removal of them will get rid of them, which you are is a crap shoot (genetics, diet, luck etc).

I have REALLY dark thick stretch marks from when I was pregnant and after 5 years they haven't gotten lighter or less noticeable no matter what I've done. Add to that saggy skin from weighing 242lbs and I know that I'm saving for some surgery down the road, but I'm okay with the imperfections too because now I know I'm healthy and that's worth more than no stretch marks . A one piece swimming suit looks great now and that's enough!

I agree, get the butter. I used the Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Tummy Butter during & after my pregnancy, and I think it really has helped with the stretch marks. Now I use it on my feet to make them soft!
