I have NO idea how to set realistic goals for myself.... I have looked at other members profiles, I see mini goals etc. and I think that's awesome. But how should I set goals without disappointing myself (making goals too hard)?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Since you have 34 lbs to lose, your weekly weight loss goal should be 1 lb/week (if you had 40-75 lbs 1.5 lb/week, and if you have 75+ lbs to lose a goal of 2 lb/week is ideal).0

What I do is set mini goals, because I can change them. I set my self to loose 2 lbs per week, and I calculated when I should be under the 200lbs mark. I then gave my self extra time in case I hit a plateau. So starting in August at 220, I want to be under 200 by Halloween, completely do-able so I should actually exceed that goal, which will make me feel really good! I want to be at my goal weight by the first week of May 2012. So I have given myself more than enough time.
I am not sure how to help you set your own goals though. What kind of goals would you like to achieve?0 -
I think it is all personal - I had a hard time deciding what my end goal should be so I just went back to pictures of the old me and decided what I wanted to look like and then set that weight as my goal. Then I basically divided my ultimate goal by 4 and made my mini goals. I will share that my motto (that really works for me) is I just want to lose one pound. When I lose the one pound I just repeat it to myself0

As for mini goals, try 10 lb increments and reward yourself with something when you reach the goal. Try to avoid putting a timeline on your weightloss because you'll just be bummed if you don't reach it 'in time'.0

It's really a matter of what kind of pace you want to shoot for and what you want for yourself and how aggressive you want to be with it. If your total weight loss goal is around 35 pounds, I'd set a personal goal for the first five, then 10, then 20, then 30, then when you reach GW. Give yourself scheduled rewards for each tier of goals.0

I am not in too much of a rush (and by that I mean 1lb a week at least) and I guess my time line would be to drop 15lbs by december 25, does that seem realistic?0

I guess thats the part that I'm worried about, the "time line" but your right. I should just focus on increments of 10.
