Garmin Forerunner Question...

I calling on those that have more knowledge on this than me. I have a Garmin 405 and I love tracking my distance and speed for my walks. It motivates me to push harder to try and improve my time for each mile. I had one walk this week where I walked for 48 min at a 16:03 min mile pace and it said I burned 642 calories. The next day I walked 1 hour and 16 min at a 15:42 min mile pace and it said I burned 734 calories. I just assumed (I know I shouldn't do that!) that walking 25 min longer at a faster pace would burn more than just an extra 92 calories. My question is how much does pace and time factor in to calorie burn and should I be relying on the calorie burn on my Garmin as an accurate measure? I know HRM are the best way to calculate calorie burn but believe it or not I have 2 of them and neither one will work! They work fine on my friend (who's much thinner) but they won't work on me. Granted they aren't top of the line but I didn't want to spend alot until I knew if I would like them. I don't know if it has something to do with my "girls" getting in the way of the transmitter or what...but that's a question for a different day. Sorry to get off track. Any feed back on the original Garmin question would be appreciated. :smile:

    The FR405 calcs cals burnt via distance & time traveled and therefore is not very accurate. It's the same for my FR305 even though it has the HRM built into it, it uses distance/time to calc and it's usually off. For example; my bike ride last night it told me I burnt 871 cals but using my HR, it's more like 750.
