Hi
I have a question about when you have done some exercise and added it to your diary. Its ups your daily calorie allowance. Are you supposed to use those cals or best to stay within your allotted daily normal cals ? xx

I eat my exercise calories. If I don't I feel really drained and tried. I lost weight just fine eating my exercise calories.
Some people don't and works for them. Just listen to your body.0 -

This is probably the most contentious subject on this forum. Thi is my take:
If you have 1200 calorie allowance and eat 1200, then you burn 500 then eat the 500 back, what is the point of doing the 500 burn? I use the additional cooties as a 'slush fund' so I know if I've got 500 calories left, I CAN go over my normal allowance without impacting on my progress.
Like I said, many people will disagree but it's worked for me. Good luck x0 -

I have a friend who is EXTREMELY fit and works as a personal trainer. I asked her about this today and she shared her attitude on eating exercise calories...if you aren't hungry and you don't feel run-down without eating, don't eat them. However, you should still work to meet your calorie goal to make sure that you have sufficient fuel to function. That number is already a deficit, so you should lose weight even without exercise at that number.0

Thanks everyone for the advice. I didnt realise that this topic had caused 'discussions' before.
I can see the merits of both and dare say have to find a happy medium for me. I know when I did Weight Watchers I never used the exercise points gained unless REALLY needed them so may apply that rule with calorie counting.
Have been playing a lot of catchup so far this week, so had to use the exercise cals, but going to try not to from now on, only if DO need them. Starting to make better food choices so will be easier. ((i hope  ))

I usually do eat them. If I am going to make this life change (it's not a diet, keeping track of calories is a permanent fixture in my life now), I'm not going to feel deprived. So I exercise and eat the extra calories if I feel like it. So far, I've continued to lose and am in no hurry.0
