Anyone tried The Acai Berry and colon cleanse?

I got these off ebay.. but not having much luck.. First time I took them was fien, next morning when colon cleanse made me go to loo I was really hot and prickly sensation my neck was bright red and started getting rash on arms.. i went to bathroom twice.. I took 2 anti-histamines and the rash went within an hour.

Now I had been planning to exercise so had also taken a Capsiplex pill as soon as I woke up as its meant to boost your metabolism when you exercise.. so I didnt know if the allergic reaction was to one of the two new pills or cos I had combined it with that.. so took Acai berry on its own, no reaction, took hte colon cleanse on its own a second time... my tummy was a bit gurgly.. and got the hot sensation.. so took 2 anti histamines again and went to bed next day made me go to loo and I was fine no rash this time.

I decided It was safe to go on them regular as long as I didn't take the capsiplex on the morning when I had taken these the night before.

So after I got on scales and weight had gone up again.. I always feel I can't eat cos I'm too fat it weight goes over a certain amount, but trying to eat at least 1200 so I thought I'll take another colon cleanse that way I can eat and it will all get flushed out next day so that makes it ok to eat even though I got heavier.

I took them again and nothing, its next day it hasn't even made me go to bathroom and I can't go... tried oats and toast, left over pasta thinking the carbs and fibre would make me go and nothing..so gonna have to get the dulcolax out otherwise I won't be able to eat tea and make my 1200 calories for today.

As anyone else tried them?.. the colon cleanse is meant to make you go to the bathroom isn't it? why won't it work when it worked the first two times? does it only work when you take the acai berry tablet with it? ( I read about someone who lost 2.5st on 4 weeks so wanted to try it)

    Oh my goodness. Throw that crap in the trash bin and try probiotics or more fiber.

    None of this stuff really works

    Edit to say - I did try the Acai / Colon Cleanse thing when I was younger... It did nothing. Diet and Exercise is the ONLY healthy way to lose weight.

    If you bought it off ebay there's a pretty good chance it's not the real stuff. Throw it away before it really makes you sick.

    wow im not suprised your blocked up with all the stuff your putting in your body. my friend swore by acai suppliments and said thats how she lost her weight so i gave them a go and felt nothing! turns out she was actually bullimic and she told me a load of crap.

    Just eat well, lower your bad carbs and increase your fibre with fruit and oats and just live a healthy active lifestyle.

    how are people losing a few stone in a month then if it doesn't work? That's only reason I tried it.

    Once bought proactol too but that never even made me go to loo even when I had a high fat meal, they just seem to have opposite effect on me!

    If you want a true colon cleanse, you'd have to go to a doctor who specializes in that. They stick a hose up your bum and flushes you out. It does help you drop a few pounds, but it's merely water and it'll come back. Diet and exercise. I've started to take apple cider vinegar (with the mother) shots in the morning and it's definitely helping to speed up my metabolism.

    I realize the draw of quick loss gimmicks, but if you lose it quickly it's extremely unlikely that you will keep it off. And even if it did work, you could be damaging your health by not giving your body time to obsorb nutrients as you chemically shoot your food out as quickly as you put it in. Acai berries alone won't do more than any other berry, these "cleanses" are just chemical laxitives with berries added.

    I bought an Aloe Vera colon cleanse from Holland & Barratt health shop. It did absolutely nothing. Except it blocked me up for the first couple of days, and when I did eventually go, it was hardly anything. So I'm not bothering with them.

    Also tried the Bio-synery body perfect. Tried it for 2 weeks, eating less than 1500 cals and exercising every day and put weight on.

    Given up taking them and going to see what happens.

    There is no magic bullet.

    Colon cleanses do more harm than good. If you want to boost your metabolism, you have to exercise. If you want to lose weight, you have to burn more calories than you consume.

    There is no pill or magic drink that will do it safely for you.

    I am exercising every day.. I even made myself do half an hour today and its meant to be my rest day cos my calfs and shoulders are killing me from doing two sessions yesterday one from 5-6.30am and one in afternoon when a new wii fitness game arrived.

    I'm struggling to make the calories when I exercise but I was meant to be on 1200 today I might manage that today but I have exercised again this afternoon and not logged it yet.. cos I know its gonna tell me I need to eat even more.

    I'm struggling to get below 11st 12 and I am overweight as I'm only 5ft 3 and half and in wheelchair most of day (I dont have balance to walk) I do exercises from sitting or floor work and some limited standing ones i can do mainly the balance games on wii fit where only have to lean left or right (holding onto walking frame around the balance board.

    I need to be lighter for when people need to lift me and my chair upstairs as I was humilated in June (I was 12st 7 then) when it took 3 men to lift my chair up some steps and haven't been out in public since until I can get much lighter in case I have to be lifted again. :embarassed: so I wanted to lose 2 stone before I go out for dinner again on xmas day.

    Agree. And you lose your precious gut flora along with all those nutrients.

    I know it's harder to exercise with physical limitations. I spent five months unable to walk, and I had to get very creative!

    A couple of things:
    You need to take rest days. Your body (esp. Your muscles) need the time to recover. Going every day become counter productive.

    As hard as it is, you also need to eat. Don't just look at calories - make them calories that count for something.

    Think of it in positive terms (taking really good care of myself) instead of negative (I'm scared of being humiliated again.)

    Thanks.... I've been researching all weekend.. I'm going to try reducing wheat/gluten.... as I eat cereal for breakfast or toast and often have sandwich or wrap for lunch,.. I do have pasta and been reading alot about how gluten intolerance can cause weight increase particuarly when its only around the stomach area, rather than all over.

    I'll reduce carbs in general further but not cut them out alltogether for example some meals in week may consist of only meat/fish and veg but I'm still having my auntie bessies mini yorkie pud with my dinner sunday and maybe a roastie or two if I'm really good all week... lol!

    I'll change my cereal from special K with wheat flakes in to maybe Rice Krispies.. (can't think of any other cereal that includes rice instead of wheat!) I do like oats too in winter and ready brek!

    Maybe try for a month and if I start losing and its obviously a carb/wheat thing I'll stick at it longer.
