Updating the diet profile: Calorie adjustment

Hi everyone,
Some people were floating the following message around on their Status today:
"Note to all users. Make sure after every time you have a weigh in, you go under Settings->Update diet/fitness profile->Press update. After weigh ins your daily calorie allowance does NOT update automatically, and you may not have the right amount set. Please copy and paste this to inform other users."
I did this, and it changed my daily calorie allowance from the 1,440 it was down to 1,400. My weight was the only thing that changed (down eight pounds in the past two+ weeks). I'm well ahead of the two-pounds-a-week pace that I set for myself, so for me to to hit my goal weight on time, I would think I would be allowed MORE calories per day...not LESS. I mean, if I was behind my pace, I could see them cutting my calorie allowance, but I'm ahead of the pace, so this makes no sense to me.
Can anyone explain the logic behind this? I just can't seem to wrap my head around it.
Thanks!

The lower your body mass the less calories your metabolism requires to sustain weight. Therefore, in order to lose, you have to progressively decrease. MFP will automatically prompt you to update every 10 lbs. I weigh daily so I don't want to adjust it daily. Too frustrating.0

Thanks! New here and need all the help I can get! xx0

The problem for me with this process is that I have custom goals, and every time I do this, it completely wipes out what *I* want and replaces it with the standard carb counts that MFP uses. So I have to reset my custom goals which becomes annoying.0
