Hello all, so I am some what new to this site, and message boards in general. However I am very familiar with weight loss struggle. I am 30 years old and have been batteling my weight issues all my life. Well thats a lie...as a kid, it was of no importance. I was raised in a family that did not eat well and did not exercise. Even today, the fact that you need to work out on a regular basis...that you need to do it just like brushing your teeth or taking a shower...is still a new concept. I've always seen exersise as an option...but in fact it needs to be a nessesity. I know this might seem like a "duhh" comment...but it in fact is a very late relisation of mine.
I didnt really start addressing my weight issue until college. The oportunity to get out from my parent, and the only life style I knew, opened up a whole new world. I began eating balanced meals, walking to classes, and had an 1.5 hours of daily exersise. Instead of gaining the freshman 15 I lost 50 pounds....however by my senior year, I had decreased my balanced dining hall meals and increased my take out. My daily exersise had also decreased. And I began to put weight back on....This is when I consider my war with weight had begun.
Since college, I've had the gym memberships, personal trainers, diets...but for every step forward I would take...i'd take two steps back....Time has passed...I'm 30 now, and weight 314 pounds...thankfully I'm tall...but still very unhealthy! Every day I wake up...look in the mirror and not like what I see...I pledge to eat better, and work out...and every night i go to bed, with a new excuse as to why I'll start the next day.
The other day, a challege was presented to myself and some coworks...one that is filled with positive support and assistance...I'm now 5 days into a 7 month weight loss challege! One that focuses on life style change...eating healthy and daily exersise!
I've got no more excuses!

Awesome, welcome. At first the transition is hard because like you said, it's a lifestyle change and something that you're not used to. Once you get in the groove though it becomes easier and easier and you start to really understand why your eating and exercise habits from before weren't good.
Best of luck.0 -
Hey..
My story is somewhat similar.... I got some gyaenic issues because of weight gain and have a 3 months challenge now. And passed 2 weeks. I could lose 2 pounds but I wanna lose 2lbs/week.

Welcome to My Fitness Pal. You can do this. Make a lot of friends on My Fitness Pal. They really help with motivation. Log in everything, everyday. I not only keep up with calories, but I also track sodium. Every time I go over on sodium, I seem to gain weight. It is best to lose the weight slowly.0
