Hi!
I was directed to check this out by my Endocrinologist. She had mentioned that her staff and patients use this site in conjunction with the medical recommendations of documenting their food diaries and exercise.

I am a 37 yr old from New Hampshire who is battling PCOS, Metabolic X Syndrome and Alopecia. I am 94 pounds overweight, but prior to beginning, I did lose about 30 on my own (VERY difficult).

Women with PCOS (1 in 10,000) who are obese from this have a much more difficult time in losing weight. And, BOY OH BOY they werent kidding!

I have recently in the past 2-3 years met with doctors who actually have the knowledge of what Im going through. Unfortunately it took 15 years to find these well-informed doctors. My dermatologist is wonderful - I tell his wife Im ready to adopt him! LOL! Today (09/23/2011) I met with my new Endocrinologist who has studied specifically endo-related issues with PCOS patients. I absolutely LOVE her! She has opened my eyes to a few things today and it all makes sense.

I am being prescribed a number of medications all of which have been greatly helping me. Now, I am on doctor's orders to eat no more than 30-40 carbohydrates per meal.... This will help the medications to also maintain my insulin and sugar levels as well.

Im hoping that Im not alone in the PCOS world.... Definitely will look for support, but am more than happy to give support as well.

This will definitely be a great tool to use and Im glad my doctor recommended it...

Welcome! you will love this site. I started my weightloss program 9 weeks ago and have lost 27 lbs (I lost 4 before coming here). I don't have pcos but I have hypothyroidism and had high blood sugar problems before starting this. (my fasting blood sugar was 120!) I also eat no more than 30 grams of carbs per meal and it has worked like a charm! I have been dropping weight consistently sometimes as much as 3 lbs in a week! check out the recipes; I found an amazing recipe for mashed cauliflower that is to die for and it kills my craving for mashed potatoes! I understand the struggles that you face, before getting this diet advice from my doctor I struggled to lose one single pound. I did weight watchers for three months and lost 5 pounds. But once you find that winning combination (mine is the low carb plus no more than 1210 calories a day) it's BAM! people at my work can't believe how different I already look! I am excited for you that you will find the same success. Good luck!

Im finding this is quite the versatile site.. it just takes a moment to think you have looked all over the place for what you want to do...

I found the way to adjust the CHO number to match the goal of what the Endo wants daily.... even had some fun and entered in my Stromboli recipe - looks like I will still be able to enjoy this without issue!

Working as a chef, this will actually be helpful because I cook everything fresh, use only fresh ingredients... so that's half the battle here for me already won... The Endo gave me a "Calorie King" Fat & Carbohydrate book which will be VERY helpful too! Especially if my husband is hogging the computer, I have the book to help me! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Thank you so much for the warm welcome....
