What Gain? What?

I just recently started counting my calories and using Myfitnesspal (which I love)! However, after a week or so I noticed I gained a pound (I stick to my calories)!
Did any of you go through a "gaining phase" before the weight started coming off? How long did I take you before you started seeing 'real' results?
Thanks!
Ace

Have you been exercising as well?0

Foods high in sodium can cause you to retain water. Eventhough you may have lost fat, water retention can make it appear you haven't lost or even gained weight. I've lost over 100 pounds in nine months. I know it can be very frustrating sometimes.0

Everyday...sometimes twice a day (except Sundays). :ohwell:0

I certainly did! Its frustrating! Every week or so I would gain a pound then lose two, gain a pound then lose one, lose two gain one back. Your body goes haywire when your making changes to it. But all together with the fluctuations I lose 11 pounds in a litttle over a month. Keep at it!0

I went through that but it was also because I started working out at the same time I started watching what I ate. If you did the same thing, it's because the muscles will retain water as part of the healing process. As your body gets used to the new routine, it will release the excess.
Could be other water weight related problems - do you track your sodium, if not, start doing that right away. Sometimes the packaged "diet" foods are full of sodium. Something's got to make it taste good, right?0 -
If you are exercising hard and doing streght training. Muscle weights more than fat. You could be putting on muscle. No matter what this is a life style change. Don't stop.:happy:0

I lost four lbs, but this week have ate under my calories ,but hard more sodium in the things I did eat....I knew I felt swollen this morning and I had gained. It has to be water because I have worked my butt off.
Good luck,Brenda0 -

A pound is a pound...is a pound (muscle doesn't 'weigh more'...its just smaller/more dense per pound). Unfortunattely, its highly unlikely you've gained a significant amount of muscle (while losing fat) in a very short time. It probably is a good idea to look at what you're eating.
Make sure your food diary is set to show sodium intake. I did with mine, and realized I was eating way too much in the beginning (sugar too).
Anyway, keep up the hard work...the losses will come!0 -
Thanks so much!!! I haven't been watching my sodium! I will make SURE to do that from now on!!
I won't give up! Good luck and congrats to all those "losers' out there! Keep it up!!0
