First 1/2 marathon tomorrow. Just found out they will have aid stations at mile 5.5 and mile 9.3, the rest is on my own. It is trail running/mountainous. Any last-minute tips/advice? Thanks!

I am doing my first one in 3 weeks. Most of the advice I got so far is don't go too fast at the beginning, settle in at a good pace and wait a couple of miles before you try to increase.

    Good luck!!

Have fun! I often carry a regular old 16 ounce water bottle at the start, that should get you to mile 5.5 just fine.

I'm also running a 100% trail Half tomorrow. For many years now, I bring my own water bottle. This way I can drink when and how much I want, and blow right through the sometimes congestion aid stations, and it's much nicer coming out of the bottle where it doesn't go up my nose.

I always bring my own water/Gatorade. I hate the congestion at the stations!! Plus I dont have to rely on someone else providing me with what I need and/or want.

I'm running my first one as well! I could never carry a water bottle with me i need everything in a pack out of my hands however, if you drink some gatorade tonight and plenty of water prior to I think you will be ok :-) At least, I usually am. My experienced marathon friends also suggested eating pretzels the day before to help with sodium to keep fluids in longer. Just do whatever you feel will make you comfortable and GOOD LUCK!!!!
