Getting my pre-baby body back

Hello, I have a questions regarding weight loss while exclusively breastfeeding. I have a two month old baby boy and have been going to the gym 3-4 times a week for about a month now, spending about 50 minutes doing cardio. I am not doing any diet, just trying to eat healthier and portion control, and my weight loss has been minimal. I have been told by some that I should not be working out at all because I have had a few dizzy spells, but that is not going to happen, my time at the gym is MY time you know with 2 kids all day( who I love with all of my heart!!) I need to take some time for myself. Any ways my question is what can I do to make the most out of nursing (using the extra calories) and lose weight in a healthy way? How many calories should I have per day to support weight loss? I want to get back to my pre-hubby body lol. While I know this is going to take time I want to do it the smart way.

I have a two month old boy too Congrats!! On my diary I added breastfeeding in my food diary, since I'm exclusively breastfeeding, which I'm sure you are too, it adds an extra five hundred calories since that's how much you burn0

Yeah this one is tough. I also breastfeed and have a almost 5 month old. The biggest part is to make sure you are still getting in enough calories and water that it doesn't mess with your milk. To be honest, right now I am scheduled to eat about 1400-1500 calories a day (using the tools here) and I have been losing and it has not bothered my milk at all. There is a thing under the food section for you to put in to count those calories you lose for nursing. I was told by my doc that losing while nursing is fine as long as it is the healthy way and slowly. Right now it is slowly but I would rather that than not at all.
So set up your goals to see normally how many calories you need to be eating. Just go in and set your goals on here and it will tell you based on your info how many calories you need to take in. You should have no problem losing as long as you are eating the right amount of calories (healthy) and exercising. If you are having dizzy spells I would try to drink more water and if that doesn't help you may want to speak to your doctor just to make sure all is ok. Feel free to add me and good luck :happy:0 -
Honestly, you shouldn't be trying to lose weight at this point. If some weight loss happens naturally, that's fine. But you shouldn't be cutting calories. Both you and your baby need all the nutrition you can get at this point, getting less than you need does neither one of you any good. It sounds like you may not be eating enough if you've been having dizzy spells while working out. Instead of focusing on intense workouts at the gym, why don't you just go for walks with your kids? I know how important alone time is, I'm a stay at home mom with two toddlers and another baby on the way. But, it isn't healthy to be pushing yourself. Your body needs time to recover, you really shouldn't have been doing intense workouts at the gym before being cleared by your doctor at your 6 week follow up appointment. As far as calories go, you should be at your maintenance amount plus 300-600 extra calories depending on how much your baby nurses.
There's no rush to lose weight or "get your body back". It took nine months to put on the weight, you don't have to lose it any faster than that. Give yourself a break and enjoy your new baby.0 -
everything you are doing is fine you might feel dizzy because you're probably a little dehydrated just drink more fluids and keep up the breastfeeding.0
