Getting out of starvation mode

I had been eating 1000-1200 calories for the past 1-2 months, and recently just upped them to a healthier level. I don't know if my body is in starvation mode. I know that while I was eating such low amounts that it worked at first but then I just started maintaining, feeling like I lost muscle mass and feel like I look fatter. Now that I'm consuming a bit more to where I should be, I am scared that I will gain. How do I get around this? If my body really was in starvation mode, how can I get out of it without gaining weight?

I think you will be fine if you work out to burn off extra calories down to 1200. So it's like you're only eating 1200 a day.0
