Do people have more success when they choose 1lb a week or 2?

2lb is limiting me to 1200 and I don't seem to be losing weight on it. just the same water weight going up and down... would I be more successful setting a 1lb loss.. and might this result in more than a 1 lb loss if its turns out to be the right amount of cals for me?

I thought I had read that you shouldn't eat under your BMR? as I've put 2lbs back on I used the BMR tool to check again under 12st 1 and got 1,412 this time (it was 1300 and something at 11st 12).. but MFP is still putting me at 1200 for 2lb a week loss?

Does this mean I shouldn't eat under 1412 to lose weight? I was gonna try reducing exercise I been trying to do as much cardio as I can manage and its been great for inches but doing nothing for the pounds.. I'm thinking of switching to low intensity pilates to work on tummy for a week (and my Physio stretches to stop my calves stiffening too much) or so and limiting myself to 30 mins a day?

Thanks

MFP reccomends 1 lb. a week. If you lose more in a certain week, bonus. But when we lose slowly, it is more likely that we will keep it off. Too few calories will be hard to follow in the long run. Keep up the good work!!

set it to 1 pound. your body needs its fuel!
you need high intensity cardio to get a flat stomach... they key is to do it fast for a shorter amount of time and then do weights.
long periods of low intensity will leave you flabby.

Try changing to 1lb for a wee while cos at the end of the day what are you gonna lose by giving it a go? other than weight hopefully! especially as your up and down at 2lb, its all about trial and error, you could be the same height, weight and age etc as somebodyelse, they may respond to 2lb weightloss, you may not, our body mechanics are individual to ourselves
