I had a hysterectomy 10 weeks ago. I'm back at work since week 8. I'm walking everyday and feel really good. I'm just wondering if there is anyone else who has had an abdominal hysterectomy, and when you started doing ab work again. I don't want to go at it hard core, just start up. Maybe pilates videos? Thanks for any suggestions.

  • This is really a question for your ob/gyn who presumably performed the surgery.

What ever you do, listen to your Dr. and don't do anything too soon. I have heard of women feeling great and over doing and needing to go back in for repairs. What kind of hysterectomy did you have? I had a robotic hysterectomy with a couple incisions in my tummy and then my uterous was taken out of my "V". I am so glad I had it done.

I agree with everyone else. Ask your Dr. You don't want to do any damage.

Check with your doctor. You need to make sure your muscles have healed and that the rectus abdominis (that they likely separated at the time of surgery) have come back together prior to starting.

    Best of luck to you!
