I have over 1,700 calories left including exercise calories! Should I just eat a normal dinner or should I eat something with a lot of calories?

just because they are calories doesn't make them good for you, 500 calories of chips are easily eaten but they don't do much for you and won't help you get out of the habit of eating the bad stuff. Eat your normal supper, then couple hours later have something around 300 calories etc, add a treat, but don't go crazy  Not sure what you have had today, but maybe you should be breaking meals into more mini meals worth about 300 calories every 2-3 hours. We are also trying to train our metabolism to work properly again, so if you can make meals spaced more evenly throughout the day, it helps, instead of feeding it large amounts of calories at one sitting. That way your body learns it will get food when it needs it and doesn't need to hoard as much. Just my 2 cents0

You're probably looking for something high calorie low fat.
Pastas, potatoes, breads, rice, anything carb heavy will be high in calories. Just watch what you put on it for fat intake! Beans are a good choice. Bean burrito? Lot of cals in that, very little fat. There's also nuts, peanut butter, milk. :flowerforyou:
Dark meat off of chicken is actually pretty high in calories (kinda high in fat too though :ohwell: )0 -
Have a smoothie for dessert! Throw in some peanut butter or avocado to jack up the calories in a healthy way. It'll taste awesome AND be good for you.0

Do the best you can for today.
Try a snack before dinner. Something high calorie like nuts would be a good choice.
Then have a filling dinner. The pasta suggestion is a good one.
After that, have a little dessert of some kind.
Then tomorrow, work on planning out your calories ahead of time a little better. If you are only having 100 calories for breakfast, then try and add some more food in there. Try to get used to seeing where you use your calories and then try to spread them out a little bit better. I don't do well planning my meals in advance, but some people love it. Even without planning everything, you can have a pretty good idea of where you are using your calories (or aren't using them in this case).0 -
I see you have a significant amount of weight to lose, so I might just leave some of those calories. Eat a sensible and healthy dinner until you feel 'satisfied' and maybe have a light snack in the evening. You can healthfully lose more than 1 or 2 lbs per week, so I think you could have some calories left over at the end of the day. It might also contribute to an inadvertent "zig zag" effect, which can be beneficial.
Good luck - and definitely don't just eat calories for the sake of eating them, and certainly don't eat nutritionally void calories!

why do you have so many calories left over?
I guess every one else addressed the fact that you should spread your calories out better throughout the day. Thats what I'm working on.
When I have a large amount of calories left over I tend to eat them and then about 1000 more bc it starts the binge process.0
