Self Propelling a wheelchair

Hey I just reads that the Veterans Administration says that for every 10 min of self propelling your wheelchair burns on the average of 60-80 calories every 10 min. What a pleasure it is for me to finally find this out. Thank you to the Web!

It's a wonderful tool isn't it! I thank God for it every day because it is the reason my son has so many friends and can feel just like everyone else! he has muscular dystrophy and is in a wheelchair also. A power chair he is too weak to propel himself. Glad to have you on the site add me as a friend if you would like.0

in the exercise section of MFP, they have a listing for wheelchairs. It reads "running (jogging), training, pushing wheelchair" but I've always used it for self propelling since I had foot surgery in June. I burned 930 calories today.0
