Trying to gain weight....

I just started today, but unlike most people, I have always been skinny. I am trying to gain weight, not loose it. Is there anyone else out there that is trying to do the same? Do you have any suggestions?

Me! I lost way too much weight when all I needed to do was tone up.
I upped my calories and eat a lot of healthy fats and protein. I've also started doing bodyrock.tv. I don't use a gym (dang recession) so I lift a bit at home too, to build up muscle.0 -
No, but I try to eat healthy and exercise to be healthy, so it's not THAT different. You can add me if you like!0

I have always been underweight. I eat healthy (vegetables, meats, fruits, breads). I have an extreamly high metabolism and was recently diagnosed with Addisons. I have recently dropped 30 lbs in the last few months and I really need to put some weight on. I eat small meals all day long (always have).0

I've been working on putting on a few.
Keep it healthy. Lots of protein, good complex carbs and good fats. Avoid overeating in one sitting but eat frequently and exercise(strength) and probably avoid long bouts of cardio. Also remember to eat a good protein/carb rich meal after working out. Set your mfp goals and stay close to (and not under) your suggested weekly net cals.0 -
Not sure how to advise you to gain, but I would think some nutritious, calorie dense shakes may help as they can give you alot of calories without taking up too much volume in the stomach. Also some whole wheat pastas and other healthy carbohydrates can pack alot of calories in small volumes. Brown rice that sort of thing.
While the fiber and nutrients in veggies are good for you, they are going to take up alot of volume for very little calories. I would try asking your doctor or perhaps a nutrionist to see what he/she suggests as well?
Almond butter also packs healthy fats, and some protein with lots of calories in a small volume. A spoonful here or there is healthy and could help you get your calories in. It's also DELICIOUS!0 -
I just started wednesday. I've been underweight my whole life too.
What i am doing is trying to eat a lot of calories but in a healthy way by eating between meals, a lot of snacks (healthy snacks). I tried the shakes and the whipped cream diet but it doesn't help for me.
I'm 163 cm tall and i weigh about 46 kg. I want to weigh about 53 kg. I have never weighed more than 48 kg and that was in a good periode in wich i ate a lot just like i'm trying to do now. I eat about 3200 calories a day because i burn a lot of calories really fast by doing hardly anything. This day nr. 3 for me but so far so good. Hope it helps. Good luck with gaining weight!0 -
HA! FINALLY! My time to shine. You are looking at an expert in weight gaining! Heres what you need to do:
Step 1: Start hating yourself (you get better results when you are depressed)
Step 2: Discover Bacon Maple Bars from Voodoo Doughnuts
Step 3: Obtain strange fetish of watching reruns of Cheers while eating Icecream that is of the same color of Norms Jacket (show was in the 80's so be ready for many flavors of chocolate)
Step 4: Drink Heavily, preferably begin in the AM to stop that pesky metabolism (Side Note: This also makes work more fun!)
step 5: replace all water with Jolt Cola mixed with a Moutain Dew Reduction
Step 6. Instead of Gum , Chew Ham
Step 7: reap the rewards of your hard work!
jk .. Lots of protien and squats will do the trick.0
