Hello, my name is Tarran and I am 25 and a little over year ago I had my first baby. I've been "trying" to lose weight for that amount of time. This week I've kind of given up on myself. I'm hurt, I feel empty and like I'll never overcome this. I don't want to sound like I'm having a pity party because I'm not, I am just tired of not losing weight, tired of being fat... ANNOYED at myself. If anyone has some encouraging words or what they say to themselves to keep themself on track or get back on track, please send it along here-- I would be SO SO SO SO greatful. :) I have given up on weight loss this last week...I was "on strike"! Please help if you can....a good quote or a new perspective, anything. Thank you ahead of time.

I tell myself 'You can do it!" The weight didn't come on overnight (though it seems like it :grumble: ) and it won't leave overnight. One day, one hour, one minute at a time. Make one healthy choice, then another. Baby steps. Whew I need a lot of motivation I guess. Some days I don't feel like going on, but I try to just keep going and soon I feel like continuing. Good luck :flowerforyou:

Hi, no matter how discouraged you are, there's always someone who has it worse off than you. Consider thinking about those who have over 100-200lbs to lose? They work so hard to lose it and have been very successful at reaching their goal. You've taken the right steps into losing weight. There are so many others who should/need to lose weight, but haven't considered doing anything to lose it. You are one step closer to reaching your goal, whatever you goal may be. Just imagine, with hard work and perseverance, how far and successful you will be at weight loss! Nothing good comes easy. Let your workouts burn, be consistent, and keep your eyes on the prize. You have one life and one body to live in, might as well enjoy it.

"Fake it 'til you make it." I started off pretending that I was already the person I envisioned myself to be. Somewhere along the line, I became that person. So watch those movies that motivate you to exercise like a champ (for me, it's Blue Crush - don't judge me, man.) and to eat like you have standards about what you put into your body (for me, that's Food, Inc.) and read those books, and stop looking at magazines, and pay attention to what you see in real life. People are very very average. You are a normal person. Just stick with impressing yourself.

Another thing I did was that I didn't think about willpower as something other people possessed but that I struggled with. I just took baby steps to get some of it for myself. I made small goals. I cut out sodas, later cut out certain ingredients, pushed myself to jog to the red car down the road when I wanted to walk, later pushed myself to jog for blocks of time instead of from point a to point b. These mini goals will be different for you. But I want you to get your head out of wherever it's at right now. Good luck!

    Mine is a little icky...

I rewatch Silence of the Lambs, and I think about how if I don't get to be the size I want I'm absolutely going to become a skin suit.

I also think about how often people are running in Supernatural and Dr. Who and how if I want to keep up I have to be in shape.

Sorry I have no serious advice.

Thank you everyone for the serious advice...and for the funny advice. I think just knowing that someone cares enough makes me feel better to begin with and your words mean so much. I kno I can do this, its just taking me longer than I had planned...a LOT longer.

I love the sayings "nothing tastes as good as thin feels" and my fav......it matters what I do MOST of the time, not ALL of the time"
just take it one day at a time...don't strive for perfection......you will do great! the hardest part is Day 1....you can do it!

motivation for me was diabetes. found out I had type II Dec. 2009. got my life in order. changed diet, excercised. after losing 100+ lbs. I reversed the condition, no more meds, no more diabetes. I have people on this earth that I need to annoy so I need to live as long as possible.
