Zero carbs after 3pm

I've read a couple of interviews in magazines lately and one thing that is common in them all is the comments "I don't eat any carbs after 3pm".

These are from actors bulking up for various roles.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone here is on a zero carbs after 3pm diet? Are you bulking up, toning, weight loss? What do you eat for the rest of the day that is zero carbs?

I was on a strict candida diet for nearly 2 years, so no carbs at all, until I went to TKD camp and was told I needed them for energy, my body was find, but I listened and then got back on carbs Also this diet has no dairy and no wheat!! But I did have energy, I just did not get my carbs from fruit or processed food or pulses, nor did I eat pots or carrots. I got my carbs from veg. Also I did not eat after 6pm, but I did go to sleep about 10, so no problem there.

Then I did not eat carbs after 3, I was told by a personal trainer that I could drop weight that way.

As you can tell these where not for me as I am here now! I still do try and not eat processed food.

Not sure if that is what you are looking for??? xx
  • I believe it's pretty beneficial if you're not doing heavy exercising. I dropped my first 75lbs. eating under 20 carbs a day. The last 25lbs. took a lot longer because I re-introduced carbs back into my diet. I'm not sure if my genetic predisposition to diabetes has anything to do with it, but I tend to lose the most when I have the least carbs in me. It works, but as a distance runner it's not something I can do while training. You simply need carbs for energy (luckily for me right now I have an injury and am not able to exercise so it's how I'm going to be controlling my weight).
  • Thanks both.

These guys do eat carbs, but they load them all at the start of the day. They are always eating as they are bulking up, so ALWAYS eating. Think of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine (one interview I read) etc, weight training 6 hours a day!

They do take their carbs from vegetables, but I've read elsewhere about not eating potatoes or carrots...not sure why?

I used to eat TONNES of carbs as I used to cross country mountain bike a lot, doing 4-6 hour rides off-road etc. Definiately needed for energy!

I think I'd be really stuck for meal ideas after 3pm that had zero carbs, and also wouldn't want to eat all of my carbs in the morning/lunch as I know I get tired from them.

Thanks for the info, any other comments/thoughts appreciated.
