well not quite new, 53 :-)

I''ve been overweight for many many years. I need to lose 100lb. There, I've said it (and so did the BMI calculator).

I'm so used to being the way I am, I cannot visualise at all how I would look at 13 stones, but I want to find out.

I'm married to a long suffering wife and have 3 grown-up offspring.

My work mentor and old buddy had a massive stroke a few weeks ago and faces possibly life-long recovery. HE was fit, lean, and did daily exercise, but had high blood pressure. Mine is mild hypertension level, but it has to come down.

Somehow, I'm still relatively healthy, but showing some warning signs that may change.

Grateful for any friends for mutual support.

My first steps are to cut out habitual drinking, and increase excercise.

    Hello

I just started this week too and I'm 48. I recently went back to school and my 48 yr old math professor had a stroke. Decided it's time for me to do something again...

Get some friends on here. It helps. Keeps you honest and scan everything.....

  • welcome, and congratulations for starting, I am fairly new also, just joined about 2 weeks ago. And I am seeing results already. I wish you the best of luck. I quit drinking about 6 years ago and funny thing is that's when I started gaining the weight. But after I quit drinking I quit going to the bars and didn't dance anymore. So now I have started to exercise again and watching my calorie intake and it's working.
