I gained several pounds a year, every year after I got married. Fourteen years, and fifty pounds later, I started working on getting things straight again last April. Some things that have worked for me are plating all the food, instead of serving family-style. To stop myself going back for seconds, I put leftovers away in the fridge right away. Sometimes, I'll even plate or pack the leftovers so we have them all ready to pack for lunch or eat the next night. I avoid snacking in the evening, too.0

I alway remind myself of how utterly disappointed i am when i realise that all that weight has gone back on. All those months of hard work undone in days! Maybe have your dinner on a side plate, that way if you do have seconds you won't be taking in any more than you would if you had one normal sized plate0

Drink a pint of water before your meal! Work's great to stop me going back and picking0

These work really well - though DH is still struggling with the lack of seconds!0 -
7 years of marriage is catching up to me... try this... only put HALF of what you think you might want on your plate (and definitely half of what goes on his!) It's not about the food amount sometimes, it's about knowing that your getting more than you had.0

My husband eats like a pig and yet he's of athletic build. I put on so much weight after years of being with him that I've had to say enough and eat how I need to eat. Sometimes that means I don't always eat evening meals with him. It used to bug him because he never knew what I'd be eating but he's gotten used to it and now I've lost a little weight he understands a bit more why I need to be the way I am.0

I have been married 2 years and have put on 20 pounds for the same reason. My husband does most of the cooking ( he loves to cook), and I have gotten into the habit of eating almost as much as him, but he is 230 pounds and much more athletic than me. What I am trying to do is drink water before and with my meal, dish my food up on a side plate, and don't go back for seconds - coupled with going to the gym more often so when I want to splurge, I can. I have just started this behavior, but will let you know how it goes. I would love more ideas also if people have them...0

Ugh my biggest problem is snacking! When he walks out of the room i reach of a handful of chocolate chex cereal (HUGE downfall of mine) I can't stop this crazy behavior. its mostly at night before dinner......Then after dinner I NEED a dessert!! The mind is a horriable thing sometimes :noway:0
